We looked around a lot of hotels in Copan and found this to be one of the best value for money. It's not a cheap budget option, but it's not terribly expensive either. For around $50/night you have a nice big room, 2 double beds, TV, wifi (worked well in the common area and ok in our room), good AC, and a small balcony with views. They service your room daily and provide soap, towels, shampoo, etc.

There is also a big common area with comfortable couches and lovely views over the town and mountains. We have a 1 year old who goes to sleep around 7pm and so we spend a lot of time hanging around our hotel in the evenings, and it was very nice to do so in this common area. There's also a pretty internal courtyard with a lot of greenery which gives the place a very placid feel. While it's only a block from the central park, it's quiet almost all the time.

One of the best parts is the rooftop terrace, with beautiful views across to the mountains and a small pool for children (our son loved this!) - there's also a communal fridge you can use if you like.

We found it to be a great hotel and we spent a lot of time in it! We would give it 5 stars except for 2 things - the hot water was only turned on sometimes and when it was, it wasn't very hot. The owner and another front desk person both seemed friendly, but the boy who looks after the desk in the daytime seems quite grouchy and wasn't keen on helping us with our hot water problem. He did make it work, but then when it wasn't on again the next day we didn't want to ask again. Perhaps with better Spanish you could work out how to ensure it's always on.

However, the hot water problems didn't detract from the experience too much for us (Copan is so hot you don't really miss it!), we would still recommend it as a great place to stay.

Room Tip: The second floor rooms have balconies

The Acropolis Maya is wonderfully located a block from the central park. The rooms are clean and spacious. As others have mentioned, there is no restaurant, but that's not such a problem as there are so many within walking distance in Copan Ruins. The hotel is also in an excellent location for walking to the Ruins. The rooms have air conditioning.

A big plus for this hotel is that they have underground, secure parking. Once we arrive we can just leave the car and not worry about it until the morning we leave.

The Acropolis Maya is reasonably priced (about $50 for a double, taxes included) in comparison to hotels with the same features and levels of comfort and luxury.

Room Tip: Request room(s) on the second floor and facing towards the north side (away from park) to reduce noi...

This is a charming colonial style hotel, ample neat clean rooms, with a/c and nicely decorated. I have stayed here 3 times already, and will definitely recommend for families, couples or groups of friends. I came here with my husband and son, and with a married couple of friends and their daughters and had a great weekend in Copan. The hotel has a small but nice children's pool on the terrace with a nice sundeck where grown ups can relax. The only con is that they don't have a cafeteria, but you have plenty of food choices in the surroundings of the hotel, located just one block from the central park and cathedral, so you can just walk everywhere you want to go. At $50 per night, this is a GREAT VALUE! The owner, don Manuel, personally welcomes the guests, he's a very nice, talkative person, you wouldn't think he owns the place. Also, he owns another small hotel right across the street, at $35 a night, also nice rooms but no a/c. I look forward to come back soon!

The Acropolis Maya has very clean rooms that have pretty decor. The courtyard is lovely and there is a social area that overlooks the town from the second floor...great for playing cards with friends. The hotel also has a great location, one block off the square, on the way to the ruins. There are cheaper places to stay in town if you're a backpacker, but if you're in town with family and want a clean, safe hotel, this is great. The only downfall to this hotel is that the beds are hard as rocks!! If you don't mind a firm mattress though, this hotel is wonderful.

Great hotel, 1 block from the central square. Enough to have quiet nights, but easy to get to downtown. we felt safe letting our teenagers walk downtown. Lovely setting, with a rooftop louge. NIce clean rooms, and beautiful indoor courtyard.
