“Stay away from this place”

My husband and I both stayed at the single cabana at The Sanctuary in Roatan 2 weeks ago and had a wonderful and relaxing time....everything but anything to do with the rental we were staying in. I guess some independence should be expected since you are staying on your own, but the property manager should have had everything ready before we arrived.
When we first arrived at the cabana it was evening and being in a new country we were a little apprehensive about our surroundings. Turns out the locks on some of the doors, fan, air conditioner, and lights didnt work. Locks don't work??? How are you suppose to feel safe? The place looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while and when we got ready for bed, there was sand in the sheets. Not a great start to our vacation.We were handed two sets of keys with about 6 keys on each and no markings for which ones work on the door, That was fun figuring that out...
When we told the property manager Dave about all this he said he would get back to us and it took about 2 days to have the lock fixed....nothing else...just the lock. He was also suppose to give us a local cell phone so we could get in contact with him anytime, we didn't get that till the 3rd day of our stay. Anytime we needed him or his assistant Dorn to do anything, they would give us a time they would swing by, and it would end up being 1-2 hours after that....why am i spending my vacation wait for things to be fixed in the house YOU were suppose to have ready for us?! Incredibly unprofessional.
During our week long stay we were suppose to have the cabana cleaned twice and we only got one cleaning after much coaxing. The property also have a front gate to it. Dave couldn't find a key to the front gate, so he proceeded to tell us to just leave it open as it didn't need to be locked. Interesting because every other house on this street had a locked gate. Even Dave lived in the area with a locked gate.The cabana is located right next to the locals community, so this is not for the faint of heart.
This has nothing to do with the cabana itself, but there was a local called bossman across the street who would start blaring music at about 7pm and would go on till about 11 pm.
Again nothing to do with the cabana, but definitely disturbed our peace. We have been trying to contact someone from the Roatan Beach Rentals property management office to get our security deposit reaccredited, but no one is returning our calls or emails. We've even tried contacting the owner of the property Lucy on facebook with no luck yet.
The pictures on their website are also very misleading as it doesn't look like this anymore. There are overgrown trees everywhere and no maintenance to the beach area.
Dont stay here. period. It's a vacation, you should be able to relax.
I think its time for us to take some legal action.

I regret the displeasure experienced during your stay and we hope that the $100 refund helped minimize how poorly you were left feeling. I certainly had some issues leading up to your arrival that I admit hampered the attention to detail that should have existed. We hope that you consider returning and staying on us in the Beach House that we think, like most others who stay there, you'll enjoy very much.
