“A Secluded Tropical Paradise!”
Reviewed May 12, 2010

If you're looking for a private, romantic, and a tranquil vacation - this place is for you! If you're looking for one of the best world's diving and snorkeling - this place is for you too! The resort is a beachfront gated community with privately owned houses surrounded by the flourishing tropical plants. This place seamlessly fits into the natural landshaft which makes you feel a part of the untouched and precious tropical setting.
We stayed at the ocean-front villa, which is located just steps away from the private sandy beach. This beautiful Balinese-style villa offers all modern amenities for the comfortable stay. The shaded wrap-around deck was the best part! Lying there in the hammock with a cocktail or a book, catching the ocean breeze, and listening to the beautiful birds' singing was the extremely relaxing experience!
The ocean water is crystal clear - snorkeling is amazing there! The reef has a spectacular variety of fish. Not far from the shore, there is a sunk pirate ship - snorkeling there is fun for both, adults and kids. You can take a kayak or hire a motor boat to get there.
Also, while at the resort, we have witnessed a wedding ceremony on the beach followed by the reception at the nice beach-view restaurant. It was absolutely beautiful! So, if you’re planning a wedding, you can definitely rely on this place - the resort staff (very professional and creative) will take care of all the details and will make your wedding unforgettably special.
We highly recommend this place for a relaxing and/or adventurous vacation! Yes, you can have both there!

Honeymoon in Paradise

Wow! Is all I can say~ we never thought we would have such a great honeymoon. The hotel is amazing and eco friendly which we love since we are into the eco friendly vibe. The hotel has has a long beach with white sand and a long dock with a palapa where we had great massages.

The restaurant is beachfront with a long pavilion looking out the beach, with amazing views.

The villas are tastefully decorated with high ceilings and hardwood, all stainless steel appliances in the kitchens, all villas have a large living room and wrap around porch.

We decided to go there for a long weekend and had a great time, I spent some good quality time with my fiancee, just what the doctor orderesd.

“Our wedding”

My fiancee always wanted a beach wedding. So we finally decided to book our wedding at the Palmetto Bay Plantation Resort after reading about the beautiful weddings they do.
We booked the hotel early to get the best accomodations and to plan ahead. Our wedding was beautiful and just as beautiful as the photos on the website, if not more prettier.
The beach is like the Corona comercials. Our guest were very happy with our location and many are planning to come back again.
The wedding day was beautiful, the beach was set up the way we wanted it and food was amazing, definitely no complaints.

We plan to return for our one year anniversary.

Thank you Palmetto Bay!

Buyer beware. What seems like paradise at first blush, is more like a cardboard facade. The whole point of going there, given the remote location, is to enjoy a pristine beach and water. This was made impossible by the revolting sea grass in the water and its related sand flea problem. The beach was rendered totally unusable by the sand fleas.

Going into West Bay filled us with regret for not staying there. It would have totally changed our vacation!

Just came back from an awesome trip with my fiancee, from Palmetto Bay Plantation.

I come from an island in Belize and I thought it would be the same, you know island life but this is totally different. This resort blew me away. It was so romantic and relaxing, just what we were looking for, from staff to the villas, the beach and palapa were excelent, the drinks in the bar were fantastic.

If you want to totally relax and get away from everything this is the place.

Make sure and do the couples massages on the palapa, with champagne. Higly recommended.

Palmetto was excellent! Exactly what we wanted!
Laid back, yet adventurous (fishing, diving, kayaking, etc)….off the beaten track, friendly staff, beautiful houses and resort, nice pool, great bar and drinks. You can even buy food at the local market to cook at your house if you want.
I would say that that this resort is much better than anything you will find on West Bay and West end (I’ve seen them). But if you like a little more party seen then this is not for you.
The only draw backs for some might be the sand flees (they bite a little so you need to bring your bug spray but this is almost every on Roatan), it doesn’t have “the nicest” beach, but very clean – a beach you can sunbath on but not one you want to swim that much in as there is sea grass right at next to the beach.
We had a great time!

Palmetto Bay Plantation Resort is the best place to stay on the Bay Islands. It's perfectly secluded, but there are still many wonderful and entertaining things to do on the resort. The subway dive shop is located on the resort, available for snorkel as well as scuba dive trips daily, where a variety of amazing underwater life can be seen. There is a working restaurant that serves delicious food of all kinds. There is a beautiful pool that overlooks the amazing sandy white beaches and crystal blue water. The bungalows are wonderfully furnished, making for a perfectly tropical ambiance. The beach breeze blows through the airy, open bungalows, as one may be awoken to a melody of chirping tropical birds and a burst of island sunlight. The people are very accommodating, allowing for a very peaceful, easy, and entertaining stay. I would recommend Palmetto Bay Plantation Resort for anyone who desires a relaxing, leisurely, entertaining stay, whether they had small children, teenagers, or even if they desired a romantic getaway. Palmetto Bay Plantation Resort is a wonderful place to vacation!
