This place seems great from the website and from the reviews but according to two emails from them, directly, they no longer sell passes to their beach or pool for cruisers but are welcome to visit their Palapa.

We did not visit.

This was my favourite stop on the cruise. You can rent snorkel gear and snorkel off of the free beach. We did and it was amazing. Don't buy the lift ticket to the beach because there is a walk way right beside that actually takes you less time to walk than ride the lift. Total rip off. This is a beautiful place to go!

We stumbled upon Grand Roatan when we decided to snorkel the reef that is about 50 feet from the beach in front of the resort. We asked Henry, the security guard, if we could rent some chairs and he said they would be $10 each for the day. About that time the owner/director, Duke, came over and introduced himself. We chatted for a few moments and he told Henry to give us our money back, that we would be his guests during our stay! We had chairs and umbrellas all week, with the only request being that should we need any refreshment we buy from his bar. Sold! We were planning on that anyway! During the rest of the week we ran into Duke numerous times and he was always so friendly and engaging. The bartenders, Andrea and Ezra, were also very friendly and made some great drinks. The resort is undergoing some construction to add condos as well as spruce up the bar and pool areas. This time next year they should have a massive pool with a swim-up bar - hopefully, we can manage renting a condo there since this part of the beach is where we spent most of our time, anyway!

Ezra was a fabulous bartender. Kept our camera bags safe while we were in the water. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Because of Ezra, we returned to the Grand Roatan for drinks and lunch later in the week. Best lobster sandwich on the island.
