“Beautiful scenery... Unfriendly staff and below average food”

Took a boat tour of Roatan Island and stopped at Palmetto Bay for lunch. The beach, grounds, pool and scenery were the high point of our lunch. The staff was unfriendly, borderline rude. Only 2 tables had customers, but the staff wad too busy talking to each other to serve them. The food was below average. I had the BLT, my bread was hard. When I went in search of staff for mayonnaise for my dry sandwich, the waitress actually sighed and rolled her eyes. The fries were soggy and not edible. The other members in our group were not happy with their club sandwich (hard bread, wilted lettuce), quesadilla (no sides, no hot sauce provided and staff didn't bring after three requests). It was a bad lunch with nice views.

Stopped in when we did the Sand Blasters dune buggy tour, The beach is top notch and beautiful. We ordered some drinks a beer and a bikini martini. Sat down at the very small pool and thought this resort would be ideal for a quiet getaway. There was no one around, by the time we finished our drinks we decided that we wouldn't be able to stay for a week at such a remote resort. Went and paid for our drinks and after some major calculations on the bartenders calculator he came up with $11.00. I didn't think anything of this and paid, then gave him a $2.00 tip. My husband then asked how much my drink was and I remember it being $5.00 on the menu so the beer was $6.00? I used the washrooms and was so scared had to to leave and hold it. Very dim lighting if any at all and black toilets. I can't pee where I can't see.

The grounds are beautiful. It is at a very quiet end of the island so it is far from other activities.
But the restaurant was so bad. Not that the food is terrible, though not inspired, it was very expensive for the type of food and the staff was terrible. It was amazingly slow and they were rude. And they were out of everything. We ordered one dish and it to about 30 minutes to notify us they were out. Same with the next dish. And by the time we got it, we had to go but alas, they were out of to-go containers. And they charged us for an extra dish, one they were out of, and they had no change. Amazing. A resort this size has no change for a 75 dollar tab when we had a 100 dollar bill.
