We booked this for our cruise stop on 31st December after reading the great reviews on TripAdvisor and Cruise Critic. We booked it by e-mail easily after being sent all required information.

After docking we walked over the little hill and out through the gate. Here we were met by dozens of people touting for business, but we managed to find the guys from LFK amongst them and were taken to our buses. A short drive along the coast on terrible roads and we arrived at Frenchys 44 where we paid for our trip. We could see the little island a short distance away. The ferry came over and we filed on. The conch horn was blown and we were off.

The island itself has been beautifully designed. The centre is green where the main house is. There are plentiful soft sandy beaches, some nice shady areas in the trees, and lots of sun loungers. There are a couple of bars, seating areas, and a 10ft platform for jumping into the crystal clear waters. There is also a small zoo with a range of animals and birds. There are nice little touches like pretty statues dotted around.

We made full use of the facilities during the hot but windy day. After relaxing on the beach for a while we took out a kayak and went around the island. It was great fun. We even had time to help a guy who fell out of his! Lunch was wonderful. Although it was quite busy that day we didn't have to wait long for our food. Lobster, chicken, shrimp, beef, salsa and rice. My wife asked for no lobster so they gave her more chicken instead. No problem. For our 2 included drinks we stuck to the local beers.

In the afternoon we did the snorkel trip. A short speed boat ride out to the reef and we were given our snorkel gear. The water was clear and the reef was close. Not a huge amount of fish compared to some places, but not bad. The wind made the water a little choppy which was okay for me, but my wife found it a little hard. Getting back on the boat was not that easy as the little ladder was quite high to get your foot up. Back on the island we went to the Bottoms up bar to jump off the ledge. Great fun. For the rest of the day we sat on the beach, drank under the thatched umbrellas in the sea, and relaxed. There was a shower and changing rooms to freshen up afterwards. Before we left we did have a quick look at the zoo but were not really interested in holding the animals, although others did.

All in all we had a lovely day on this small relaxing island where we could do as much or as little as we wanted, away from the crowds of the 4 ships that were in that day. We highly recommend Little French Key, and will return again when in Roatan.

Our family of six enjoyed our day in Roatan at the Little French Key. The grounds were well kept and the beaches were nice. The snorkeling off the boat was truly amazing, although it was only 100 yards off shore from the where we were sitting on the beach.

This place is truly amazingly beautiful! Our group of 13, ages 8-49 had a wonderful time here on New Year's Eve as an excursion from the Norwegian Dawn. We utilized the kayaks & the jumping platform repeatedly, relaxed in the hammocks & lounge chairs & swam in the beautiful clear water. We also visited the animals & the kids enjoyed holding the monkeys. The Monkey LaLa drink was as delicious as previously mentioned. As for service, everyone was very pleasant. My only minor concern was that they seemed a bit overwhelmed the day we were there. We waited a very long time to be served our lunch & bar service was also slow all day. We would have been happy to go up and get our food ourselves but they asked that we have a seat & they would bring it out to us. Unfortunately time we could have spent enjoying the ocean or beautiful property was wasted sitting at the picnic table for an hour waiting to eat. I will say the food was delicious once it came though. Although inconsistent, as several of us were missing items on our plates that others received. Seriously though, this did not dampen our experience much, we're pretty easy going. We just wanted to utilize every possible minute there so the lunch break was longer than necessary. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend or to visit again. I was the one who chose this place for our group to visit and no one was disappointed. In fact, no one wanted to leave when we had to return to the ship!

After finding this attraction on Trip Advisor, we decided to take a chance on an excursion not offered by our cruise line. It was worth the effort to be adventurous! We were unsuccessful in obtaining a reservation via email but just showed up and were welcomed. Off the ship we asked where to find transportation to Little French Key and we were pointed in the right direction. Walked out of port and over the hill and there we met Dave who arranged our ride with others. We were able to see interesting sites on the drive to the dock where we took our cute little barge over to the island. Once there, we quickly understood the truth of the reviews we had read. Pure Paradise! The sand had been raked and the property was spotless. The hardest decision was where to sit. Every view was breathtaking. There was something for every age. After claiming our spot, we were the first ones to visit the bar. My husband enjoyed the local beer while I indulged in a "MONKEY LA LA" since others had raved about this specialty drink. It was "everything and more". We decided to snorkel next before we drank anymore. Our guide, who I called "FISH" took us out to the reef and then to the wall under the sea! An amazing drop off and the best snorkeling of our cruise! Back on shore, we ate the delicious lunch included in the tour. A plentiful serving of food, "everything and more"! Unbelievable favors! We visited the zoo and I was able to put a check on my "bucket list" after I held and loved on the monkeys and took a picture with a macaw as old as me!! The atmosphere and the service we received was " everything and more". The owners were on the grounds roaming among the guests, serving the guests, and even piloting the transport barge. The staff were polite, friendly and accommodating. It truly is a island of Paradise and our day there will be forever etched in my memory. I recommend it for families of all ages. Thanks to our hosts, the owners, for a phenomenal island experience.
