“Paradise!”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

Our group of 14 came in from RC's Mariner of the Sea. We were driven in 2 vans to the ferry and were traken to the island. The island is lovely and everyone was so accomodating. Although the staff was a little overwhelmed by the amount of people, they handled the group beautifully and were very patient. Our girls especially enjoyed handling the monkeys and there was a variety of options available for everyone in our group. It rained on us at one time, but the island and staff were so charming that we didn't mind at all. The food was delicious and they did run out of food for a short time, but was replinished quickly. The grounds are immaculent and overall, we had a wonderful time. I would highly recommend making Little French Key to anyone - especially if on a cruise. It's a great alternative to the West side of Honduras!

“Wonderful time a Little French Key”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

I was in a group of 14 and we too were on RC's Mariner of the Sea. The driver picked us up from the port timely and delivered us to the ferry. The island was beautiful and the set up was charming. Many of us snorkeled and kayaked and others simply relaxed and enjoyed the beauty of the surroundings. The food was delayed on that particular day but the owners hustled to get everything out as quickly as possible. The servers and bartenders were friendly and professional and the entire property was immaculate-including the bathrooms.
One of our favorite moments was visiting the monkeys, toucans, etc on the property. The day went by very fast and we did not want to leave. Things do move at a slower pace in Central America but that was fine. We had a wonderful day. Thank you Moshie and Larissa!

“Rainy Beach Day”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

This is an odd review because we didn't get to enjoy our day at Little French Key because it was cold, and windy, and rainy. We arrived at the island hoping the weather would clear, and we could enjoy this beautiful spot on Roatan. However, after sitting in the wind and freezing for a while, we regretfully asked to return to our ship. The staff graciously fixed us a Monkey La La and called for the ferry. Larissa kindly refunded us our fee minus the transportation costs. Little French Key is a very special place run by gracious, friendly people, and I hope that I can return some day under better weather conditions.

“Good visit but beware of drink prices”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

This was a very nice island, the people were very friendly.

The island was very private and had enough beach that groups could spread out.

Snorkeling was okay, we didn't see anything amazing. First spot we went to we felt like we were getting bites. We were told that it was jellyfish had to move to another location. We have never seen so garbage in the water. It was a bit disgusting.

Lunch was very good and you get two drinks. The monkey la Las were very good.

Beware of buying additional drinks. Beers are 5 dollars softdrinks 3 dollars!

My wife had to be $3 dollars for a glass of water.

Bring your own water!

Thank you so much for your review.....Our Drink prices are comparable to other similar locations on the Island and when taking into consideration the high cost of energy for cooling, mixing and transport to a Private Island off the Roatan Island, we believe very reasonable....Purified water is provided free of charge:)

The Garbage washes up from mainland Honduras seldom when there is a shift in the wind and wind shifts and comes from the north, we immediately clean up as necessary....

Thank you for your Positive comments......may God Bless you and yours ....

“Beautiful island, Wonderful excursion choice!”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

We visited LFK Tuesday March 12th as part of our Princess cruise. Getting a reservation was done by e-mailing(check their website). Larissa provided a prompt response.

When you get to the port(Mahagony Bay) you will need to exit the gate, go left up a hill and then down to the area where the private excursions are waiting. Dave was there with a sign and Frenchy's shirt. He directed us to a van with a driver and within 10 minutes we were at the restaurant.

Larissa met us, introduced herself, took the cash and provided wrist bands based on our package. She verified what time we needed to leave and off we went via a barge. The island is much larger than it seems at first. While there weren't many ships in port that day, we found a benefit to getting there early.(Prime seats at the beach area). They were working on unloading fresh sand and it looked like they were still improving parts of the island for the future expansion.

We were able to relax and it was very quiet on the island. My wife and friend went snorkeling and enjoyed it(until nature got a bit too close to them). Afterwards we went to eat and were handed a large plate of rice/beans, cole slaw, chicken, beef, shrimp and lobster along with plantain chips. The seasoning on the chicken/beef was very good. All the food was good but the chicken stood out.

There was a high tower about 12 feet high(seemed higher) that you could jump from. The water is plenty deep. I don't know how a reviewer's daughter hit the bottom with her foot as no one in our party or the others we saw jumping got close to the bottom.

Other attractions included the animals(monkeys, macaws, parrots, etc). We were able to get a picture holding the monkey thanks to Mathew. The animals seem to really like him. Floating chairs and plastic kayaks were available. I heard from someone the kayak was $10/day but couldn't confirm.

There is a bathroom for men/women, one for men with 3 urinals and one for women all offering closing/locking doors as well as a changing area.

We used our coupons for rum punch and it was plenty strong(no measuring with a jigger here). Overall we found this to be a wonderful choice if you want a day of relaxation mixed with some fun. The island is beautiful and wasn't overcrowded. It looked like we might get some rain at some point but were blessed with occasional clouds only.

The only thing I might point out is that it is a little pricier than most of our cruise excursions were. Drinks were about $7 for regular margaritas, 5 dollars for chips and salsa and I heard $3 for a standard bottled water(I paid 2). But the experience was so much better than most cruise excursions we've ever done. Food was the best of any excursion we've ever done.

We'd recommend LFK and if we ever found ourselves visiting Roatan again we'd certainly come back.
