“Best Location, Best Place for a Quiet Adventure”
Reviewed April 28, 2012

We spent a week at the Lodge last March and we couldn’t have been happier with our stay there. We staying in one of the king bed rooms, it was simple but comfortable. The food there is also simple but delicious. The first night falling asleep to the gentle sounds of the waves on the beach and the low rumble of the waves crashing on the reef was incredible, I’ve never slept better. The location is what makes it great here, basically had the beach to ourselves. There is also La Sirena a short walk down the beech for a change of pace, they have a limited menu and good drinks, check with Mike on the status of the place before heading down there. Super quiet and we never felt that it wasn’t safe. Mike and his staff were great, very friendly and willing to do whatever they can to make your stay enjoyable. The snorkeling on the reef is good but not the best that we seen on the island. The reef is about a ½ mile paddle out and if the wind is strong can be challenging to snorkel. Mike arranged a snorkeling trip with his captain to the other side of the island; there are a couple of shipwrecks and the best snorkeling that we encountered. Mike can pick you up at the airport or you can rent a car to get out there, the last couple of miles are a dirt road but it is passable in a regular passenger car. If your looking for the ultimate in quiet areas, very reasonable prices and aren’t afraid of a little adventure you couldn’t pick a better place to stay.

Room Tip: The single rooms are nice for a short stay. If staying longer than a couple days I'd recommend t...

This was such a peaceful escape!! It is SO QUIET at Camp Bay Beach. It's located near the end of the long and adventurous dirt road to the east end (we rented a car and drove there ourselves - so fun!) and is miles away from anything resembling a tourist-y place. Even though there were a few others there while we were there it felt like it was just us and the jungle and the beach. The beach is beautiful and natural. The water is warm and clear. The rooms were very clean and nicely furnished and had everything we needed without being abundant. The hotel is located directly on the sand - no need to 'pack up' to head to the beach! The food at the restaurant was great and the staff was so friendly and lovely. Michael the owner was wonderfully friendly, full of great stories and willing to accommodate whatever we needed! There was no t.v. in our room which definitely added to the peace and quiet however there was wifi access at the restaurant which is casual and open-air. We had an amazing time there and wished we could have stayed there the whole week rather than moving on to our next adventures! We based our trip on all of the excellent reviews here on trip advisor and were not disappointed. I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a beautiful, tranquil beach escape away from all the crowds! It was refreshing for body, mind and spirit!

Room Tip: Beach front King room allowed for sleeping with the sounds of the ocean all night! Wonderful!

We got there by car on a road trip discovering the island. It a very nice place with pure beach that you have for yourself only! We were happy to be able to have access to a cheap room that he keeps for backpacker (2 simple beds) with private bathroom and hot water for only 30$, very clean and cosy. they have others rooms with ocean view. We could rent kayak to go snorkeling. We were welcome by owner Mike, really nice guy from Florida who took a tea with us and explained us pirate lost treasures stories we loved!!! Its on the eastern part or Roatan, very very quiet and pure, far away from that tourist crowd, its awesome!! They also have a restaurant, usual prices of the island, good food. also don't miss the tiny stilt bar La Sirena down the road if you go there.

This is a must visit for anyone looking for a true tropical paradise destination on Roatan. Located near the end of the dirt road at the northside of the east end, This Kauai-like setting is well worth the drive. We spent a 10 day period combing the island to get away from development and escape the carnie atmosphere in most of the tourist places. On the last two days we found it!

Unlike the rest of the island, Camp Bay is still prestine. The beaches are what you imagine but don't always find in the Carribean. This is for nature lovers and eco--tourists. It should be called Eco Adventure lodge because the owner, Michael Bracewell is very knowledgeable and proactive in preserving the splendor of the reef, the sea life, the breach and the forests.

The hiking and views of the east end of the island are fantastic! The lodge setting is beautifully enhanced by thick tropical vegitation and flowers. It is very low key and secluded. It has a small but good resturant and overnight accomodations for a limited number so book early. Its quiet, friendly, the perfect place to unwind and discover the real Roatan with a host who knows its history and ecology and can provide tours, hikes, snorkels, kayaks and dives.

There's even a post card dock cantina up the beach at La Serina. Have the conch cervice with a Port Royal Cervesa! Camp Bay an experience, rare in the Carribean. Spend a day or a week at camp Bay Adventure Lodge when you are tired of the hustle and bustle of the west end and want to get away from the big resort approach to vacation.

We will go straight there next time. Its the real deal!

Ive going there for two years in a row. By far the best beach in Roatan. No crowds of creepy tourists or day trippers. Just beauty and relaxation. and by all means try the kitchen at the Lodge. Conch Chowder (not soup), Lobster salad, Buffalo Shrimp and Key Lime Pie are some of the top notch culinary masterpieces available to get a full belly and back on the beach chair.

My wife and I spent 8 days at this small resort. We were hoping for a lovely beach, nice accommodations and good food at modest expense, and quiet. We found all 3, plus a genuine friendship with the small staff. Located on the north shore of the less developed east end of Roatan, with the southern tip of the Meso American reef just off shore, there were certainly no crowds. Just as many miles of sand as you wanted to walk on, a steady and gentle breeze, and the constant background of gentle wave laps on the sand.

The resort consists of 2 guest buildings, each with 2 single units on the lower level and a double on top, plus a small restaurant/bar in between, all new, all just back from the water, with a strong attention to plantings and landscaping. Single units had micro and small frig, upper 2 BR had efficiency kitchens and were set up nicely for families. The units rates were very moderate, for our single in the $60/night range for the longer stay. A/C, had it been necessary, was available at an increased rate. As it was, the sleeping temp was at that delightful place where you could decide sheet or no sheet. 75 to 80 F. day and night. Wifi worked well.

We took advantage of 2 boat trips/snorkel/mangrove excursions, a bit of bone fishing. When offshore deeper water species are running, there is good outside the reef fishing as well. The reef is healthy, nice corals, sponges, etc, but the locals have heavily fished it for food, as along most of this long reef, so fish abound in quantity and variety but not so much in size.

Owner/manager and staff were simply a pleasure. Not only helpful and doing those things expected, but just enjoyable as company. The food was well prepared, good, and very well priced. Most full dinners were $15 US or less. Not gourmet or fancy or huge, just fresh and tasty, and not overcooked. Every meal we had was good. Excellent Conch Chowder and salads, fish however, fresh veggies, nice snacks, the usual sandwich choices, good breakfasts, and fun choices for deserts.

This is the opposite of a big all inclusive, in setting and pace and peace and quiet, at about the same total cost per day as the less expensive AIs. Won't hesitate to return

Room Tip: The building to the east had the extra nice double up, and the very eastern room on the lower level...

Rented a car in West Bay and took the advice from the dive shop to go and see this place.. my boyfriend and I were very glad we did. Had a lovely lunch, a few drinks.. laid out on the beautiful beach for a few hours. Only regret is that we didn't have a few extra days to stay out there but will definitely on our next trip!!

Definitely a great place to get away from the more "tourist"part of the island and just enjoy the beach and sun!
