Description: Opened since December 7, 1994, Gio's Restaurant has been serving islanders and tourists with an excellent combination of local seafood and italian cuisine. Gio's Restaurant was awarded the title of one of the Top 30 Touristic Marvels of Honduras for pioneering a dish focused on the Spiny Caribbean King Crab (Mithrax Spinosissimus). The taste and tenderness of the crab is unparalleled and a real treat for Roatan newcomers. Indigenous to the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System, the Spiny King Crab brings a unique taste to Honduran cuisine for all visitors to enjoy. Roatan serves as both the Honduran touristic capital and the hub for seafood exportation. Gio's takes advantage of the ample supply of local seafood to craft their well-known dishes.

The restaurant is in French Harbor, worth the trip if you are staying in West Bay. Very nice service, great island food, and probably some of the best crabs you have ever tried. Try the local "Conch Soup" it is a Honduran specialty and very well made at this restaurant.

It is down to earth, delicious, fresh, tasty and charming. Portions are massive and it is very reasonable. Overall- best seafood restaurant in the world... and I've been to a few!

Our island tour guide guide, Cardy Grant, recommended Gio's to us for it's seafood and view. We went there about 3 PM and encountered mostly foreigners from all over the world. Family owned for some time, well organized, super friendly staff and a calming view of the ocean started off our experience for one of the best meals of our travels. Our waiter introduced us to an island drink called a 'Monkey Lah Lah'...a very esoteric upgrade to a Mudslide---delicious-had two! Then ordered the Eldon Special--the largest plate of local King Crab, prawn and rice we've ever attempted to eat---for just $40.00- shared by two with some left over. Started off with Gio's famous Seafood soup....by far,the best broth and various sea creatures cooked to perfection. The place is air conditioned inside with clean restrooms. Drink and food is priced for travelers on a budget. You will not leave hungry. Make Gio's a primary stop while on Roatan!!!
