Description: Opened since December 7, 1994, Gio's Restaurant has been serving islanders and tourists with an excellent combination of local seafood and italian cuisine. Gio's Restaurant was awarded the title of one of the Top 30 Touristic Marvels of Honduras for pioneering a dish focused on the Spiny Caribbean King Crab (Mithrax Spinosissimus). The taste and tenderness of the crab is unparalleled and a real treat for Roatan newcomers. Indigenous to the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System, the Spiny King Crab brings a unique taste to Honduran cuisine for all visitors to enjoy. Roatan serves as both the Honduran touristic capital and the hub for seafood exportation. Gio's takes advantage of the ample supply of local seafood to craft their well-known dishes.

You have to go to Gio's to get the kind crab. The claws are huge, the size of my hand. Split an Eldon's special with another person or two and try the king crab, lobster and shrimp..

Visited Gio's 3 times with a group of between 8 and 10 people. Not a less than terrific meal was served in these times to all these people. A large menu with great variety of fish and other items. The hospitality displayed by the owner and staff is exceptional. The view is spectacular
and the staff is bilingual-no language problems.

This is fabulous family-owned restaurant where food is prepared with a lot of care. I had crab and lobster. Great dish. The crab are huge and have lots of meat. I ate there around seven pm and it was not too crowded. The waiters were very polite. A must when you are in Roatan

We visited Gio's in French Harbor based on some local's recommendations. We arrived around 4pm and it was almost empty, just a few other visitors. We were seated out on the deck. The view is lovely and the kids liked being able to see the fish right below us. We tried the local sampler platter. It was OK, similar to most Hispanic type foods, but I'm used to good Cuban food so this was just OK. My son had a seafood dinner with GIANT crab claws, a baked potato and some veggies. They brought him a bib & mallet and he went to town! The service was a little slow, but maybe that's just an island thing. All in all it was a nice meal and good time, the prices seemed a little high (those sampler platters were about $22 each) so total for 6 of us was almost $200 with soft drinks and tip.
