If you can visit just one more dive location...it must be Subway Watersports and the Turquoise Bay Resort.
We visited this month as a day stop for our cruise ship. We booked the day with Subway via the USAA travel services. Our travel specialist said, she had never had anyone make a bad comment about Subway, and I can see why.

First, Rebecca met us at the cruise terminal. And, we (six of us) were delayed getting off the ship (weather) but she waited two hours for us. We had a relaxing ride to Milton Bright from the terminal and Rebecca gave us a chance to tour this great island.

Second, when we arrived at Turquoise Bay we were encouraged to relax and plan our day. We planned a two stop snorkel outing to reef spots. Two of our group asked if it would be possible to scuba rather than snorkel. Rebecca did not miss a beat and arranged for a dive master to accompany us for the day. In addition she arranged for a guide for snorkeling and our captain.

Third, the reef is spectacular! I am not sure what else to say. By far and away the best dive trip I have ever experienced in over 20 years of diving.

Fourth, the shop is located adjacent to the Turquoise Bay Resort. A spectacular hotel and cafe with on of the best views of the island. Price is reasonable, food was excellent local fair.

I just completed my Divemaster internship at Subway, and it was one of the best experiences in my life, hands down. In 2 months I went from Open Water Diver to Divemaster, logged 119 amazing dives, and met a bunch of people from different cultures/countries. The Divemaster instructor, Mark, is awesome, both as an instructor and as a person. Everyone at the shop is easy to get along with, and there are some other great instructors/divemasters to learn from as well.

I would recommend Subway to anyone who wants to train to be a Divemaster, or simply wants a great shop to dive from in Roatan.

I do not think I am alone to say that on a dive vacation, we get up, have breakfast, get on a well-kept boat, go on a couple of dives, come back in for lunch, go back to the boat for an afternoon dive, come back in and read or snooze by the pool (very clean and nice at Turquoise Bay Resort) or on the beach (very clean and nice) for a couple of hours, get cleaned up, meet up with the new friends you will inevitably meet for dinner and drinks, head to the room and sleep like a baby. Keep repeating until 24 hours before your flight at which time you can run into town and get a few t-shirts, etc. I have been to dive destinations throughout the world and if you are looking for clean comfortable accommodations (not over the top luxury at Turquoise Bay Resort), very good food (buffet or menu depending on the day at Turquoise Bay Resort), and a great dive shop (Subway Water Sports) where their “Valet Service” sets you up each morning without fail, all at a great price then this is your place! This was our second trip to Turquoise Bay and Subway Watersports and “if it isn’t broke why fix it. Together with our new friends we just recently met there, we are already planning a return trip next year. A few things to note is to not forget to bring lots of bug spray (Bring lots of OFF) and bug bracelet/anklets (they work great). You should also bring cash for tips and other incidentals. Credit cards are widely accepted but there usually is a hefty service fee and an ATM is a long cab ride away. This is a very safe environment and there is a safe in your room. While sometimes many of us will have more dive experience than the Subway Instructor Interns, work with them so they can become better in our sport. Do not get me wrong though, if something is wrong that is also a good teaching moment. For the most part, the interns are hardworking people of all ages, coming from all levels of experience, learning the ropes of being new dive instructors and living an island dream that many of us wish we had as we hit the keyboards at our desks. By the end of your time at Turquoise Bay and Subway Watersports, like me you may be wondering how to find a way to join the scuba instructor intern class that Subway offers. You will also have met great staff members at Turquoise Bay and Subway. As an aside, spend the $50 to take the Lionfish Spearing License course. You will be helping to get rid of an invasive species and have some fun doing it.

It really was a great, indescribable and unforgettable experience!!! One of the best in my life… people is very nice, patient and professional instructors and great quality in what they do. You will share amazing experiences, different than just Dive (which is great, by the way!!!!) and will see things beyond what they appear to be, through learning, assisting and helping the instructors…

If you love to dive, take the subway to this adventure! It worth it!!
