“Loved it.... love Roatan.”
Reviewed February 17, 2014

Our day at Maya Key (formerly Fins & Flippers) was the highlight our recent cruise. We booked it right through the cruise line and were transported directly from a dock just steps off the ship.

Maya Key itself is gorgeous.... everything you could want for a beach day. I believe we paid $64.99 which included lunch. Alcohol was not included, but buckets of beer were cheap. There was also a small additional fee to rent snorkel gear. We are not terribly experienced snorkelers... but have snorkeled in Belize, Mexico, etc. - and this was some of the best we'd experienced, especially considering it is right off of the shore. We did get bit by some little bugs (sand fleas??) and had some little red spots, but they didn't hurt or itch and were gone by the next morning. Not a big deal.

Maya Key is also an animal sanctuary of sorts, and they have quite a few rescued / abused / donated animals on site (as well as some replica Mayan ruins) and you can do a little tour. I hate to see animals in cages, especially the big cats, but due to the circumstances they came from (poaching, etc.), I understand the unfortunate necessity of places like Maya Key and commend them for what they do. There were also some wild monkeys just hanging around, which was fun to watch.

Lunch was decent, with salad, BBQ chicken, fish, rice, etc. and lots of water and iced tea. Limited options for a vegetarian.

All in all... it was a great day. It's a beautiful facility. The grounds are so lush and tropical. This was my second cruise visit to Roatan, and both times it was our favorite stop. I'm thinking it's time to look into an extended vacation in Roatan.

“Roatan Maya Keys Private island Cruise Tour”
Reviewed February 1, 2014

The Maya Keys Private island tours from Princess cruise was great. We had a great time. We were taken by catamaran from the pier to the island it must have taken about 15 minutes. Once we arrive we were brief that we could go and relax by the beach, explore the museum with replica objects or go to see the animals or go to the pool. They had beautiful rescued animals in their grounds including birds, monkeys and jaguars among others. The beach had chairs and shade for you to launch at your pleasure. The snorkeling from what i heard it was great there was a $10? fee i believe. You could also pay to swim with sharks and sealions. There was a lunch meal included that was delicious included coconut bean rice, fish, plantain, salad and BBQ chicken. The food was good but once you thru the buffet they mark your bracelet . The meal also included tea or water. They had a bar to purchase sodas or drinks of your choice. The premises also had a store to buy souvenirs or other items. My one recommendation is to take bug spray. They mosquito's are so little that you don't feel them bite. We had repelent and were hardly bitten even after spending time in the water, beach and pool.

“Great place for kids!”
Reviewed November 14, 2013

We had such a great day here! We visited at the end of August as part of a Carnival Cruise. My only complaint would be, not enough time here. The snorkelling was perhaps the best I've ever experienced. Our children 5 and 10 loved everything from the snorkelling to the rescued animals. Getting to hold a monkey was thrilling to them. We managed a bit of relaxation with a bucket of local beers while the kids watched the monkeys. The staff and volunteers were friendly and helpful.

“Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

Wife and I had a great visit to Maya Key in 2010, we decide to return again this year!. Everything as we had remembered was great! We booked thru Carnival as a shore excursion, which included a great lunch of chicken, fish, rice/beans, salad, and drinks. Alcohol is extra.

Bottom line, this place is great. Very clean and well kept. One of my favorite places in all of the Caribbean!!! Lots of activities. Snorkeling is great!! They allow you to snorkel without a guide which is a plus. Nice coral, and fish are plentiful. Water is very clear, not much of a current. The island has a nice beach area as well. Parrots and monkeys roam freely on the island. They also offer for an additional cost of $30.00 an encounter which nurse sharks. I did this activity and found it very exciting and would recommend.

I highly recommend Maya Key! It is a gem of the Caribbean!!!

“Just not enough time to explore”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

My eight year old daughter was so captivated by her 1st snorkeling experience that I couldn't get her out of the water to go see anything else the island offered, but the snorkeling was fantastic! Lunch was tasty and locker rentals were only $2 US. I would have loved to spend all day there, four hours just wasn't anywhere close to long enough!
