Mahogany Beach is a gem in the Caribbean. although its an artificial man made swimming lagoon, it feels like a heavenly have. The first thing that comes into view are the many green cabanas that are lined along the shore and the swaying palms. There are no seashells in the white sand but the tiny minnow like fish schooling at the beach's edge and the perfect serene azure water more than makes up for the lack of shelling.
Nearby the beach is a nature path exhibiting native plants and one very tall palm tree..Further on are duty free shops, a native craft open air store and kiosks which display pictures of local excursions visitors can sign up for the day. Overhead and stretching the length of the beach area is a sort of in the air ski lift as well as water craft rides. There are plenty of photo opps of statues of sharks, fish etc and small cafes featuring grilled edibles and beverages.
Mahogany bay beach, and "green cabana city" is the best place to spend the day while in Honduras and Roatan island.

This is a purpose built cruise terminal for specific use of cruise ships. There is a duty free shopping area, an array of local shops in a village type arrangement, a cable car to the beach complex and a nature trail with a bridge taking you to the beach complex. At the beach there are free loungers, but umbrellas incurred a charge, with bars & restaurants to the rear. There is also a children's play area here too. A great place to spend a few hours.

The Beach was a very busy but nice beach. We bought the beach package and really enjoyed the reserved seats and floating mats. The shops are very clean and everyone is really friendly.
