We have been back packing around central america for a couple of months. We spent a week in Roatan in July and decided to take a break from diving, try something new and did a two hour windsurfing lesson.

The staff were very friendly and laid back. The equipment was in good condition (they even swapped a sail half way through for the smaller of us). Our instructor, Lorena, explained everything well and gave us the basics on the beach before getting into the water. She was very patient with us first timers, and we soon got the knack of it. In the end, we spent about three hours there.

They even took photos of us and offered to send them to us (although we haven't received them yet).

By the end we were sailing up and down the sea. We had a great time, really enjoyed it, and would love to go back again, but the price is a bit expensive on our backpacker budget.

During my time abroad in Roatan, I continued to pass a sign for windsurfing while zooming by in taxis. I decided to seek out the windsurfing school and am very pleased that I did. The entire experience was quite beautiful. I was provided with private lessons from Micky and his wife. They are both excellent, patient teachers. It was very easy booking a lesson, and I simply walked down the beach in Sandy Bay to arrive at the school. The ocean is tranquil and perfect for learning; the equipment was more than sufficient, and the family beautiful. Thank you so very much!

This was so much fun! I'm so glad I found this place on trip advisor before we left on our cruise. As promised Marvin was already there to pick us up by the time we reached the port. Our ship came in really early and the winds hadn't picked up yet so Marvin took us on an impromptu tour of Roatan. When we arrived on at the windsurking site we were able to relax on their docks before we started our lesson. Mickey was very patient and informative and this was so much fun! You practice and surf in shallow waters, but you still feel like a pro when your catch the wind! Bonus-We found a conch while surfing! Be careful of the sand fleas (pack bugspray). Even with our cruise ship's early arrival we got in a tour of Roatan and three hours of lessons and surfing! Can't wait to see the pictures Lorena took of us (she emails them to you afterwards). We had a great time!

We vacationed in Roatan April 21-28, 2012, and were staying at Tranquilseas in Sandy Bay. As a couple that loves all water sports but just learning to dive, we knew we wanted multiple activities to fill our days and windsurfing was the BEST!!! When we booked our stay, we didn't realize we were right next door (literally 20 steps) to a great place to try windsurfing. The location could not be more perfect for learning. A protected area with plenty of shallow water, and the most friendly owners/teachers that made us laugh and not only did we stand up (my only hope), but after an hour we could make turns and control the board. Now it does somewhat depend on the wind so when all went calm, Micky said, "take a break, and come back when it picks up". This was unexpected and shows that they really put value on making your experience worthwhile. We are hooked and can't wait to do it again at home in the States. Go now and ENJOY!

We had a great time taking a 3hr lesson at this windsurfing school. I arranged a lesson for myself (hadn't windsurfed in several years) and three novice windsurfers (one teen, two adults) over e-mail. Mickey responded quickly to messages and arranged for a driver (Marvin) to pick up the four of us and several family members who came along. I learned alot about the island from Marvin on the drive over. The lesson was great. I did downwind turns for the first time and Mickey got all three novice windsurfers up and doing upwind turns by the end of the lesson. The equipment is in excellent shape. The water is clear and there are seagrass beds near shore and a reef break further out in the bay for those who want to snorkel while others are windsurfing.
