Temple IV is the highest building of Tikal. The temple is not fully uncovered. To go up you have to use the wooden staircase. From the top you have view of tops of other temples sticking out from the jungle. I can imagine that sun rice tour or sunset tour must be tremendous.

We were able to climb Temple IV on a sunrise tour. It was quite an experience. The guides were knowledgeable and asked to remain silent during sunrise. We all respectfully did so. I plan on going again with family members!

As someone who does not like heights I was unable to climb this the tallest of the temples but I was told that this has the best view across the park of the area and of the site and the buildings which are presently uncovered. This was reinforced by the pictures I saw which were taken from the top.

Temple IV is one of the tallest and most voluminous buildings in the whole Maya world and of course in Tikal. Book sunrise tour. It is amazing waiting for sun and listening to jungle from the top of the temple.

I understand many people do the day trip from Guatemala, taking a flight to Flores and a ride all the way to the park. This is an intense trip which doesn't leave you much time to spend with a through park tour. So, if you are I a rush, with only a few hours to spend, and can't climb them all, and walk them all, make sure you do visit this amazing temple! From here you will have a look at all the complex and get a good idea of how the jungle ate up the complex in the centuries it was a lost city.
