This place was pretty popular amongst the Spanish students in town so if you want to hang with the locals, its probably not the place. However, if you like a cosy and comfy setting to study, hang out or simply enjoy a decent meal and a drink, El Cuartito fits the bill.

Some of the food is a little hit and miss at times but in general is all pretty tasty. Its on the corner opposite the supermarket, it has somewhat of a subtle entrance so can be easy to miss.

I ate here over a period of about a month, and enjoyed the food. I stopped eating there when I got fleas from the restaurant (three times - it took me a while to figure out where I was picking them up). It then took me about a month to get rid of them entirely, and the food just wasn't worth it.

I really enjoyed my meal here - a tasty bagel sandwich and a yummy coffee - but the bagels are too much like round, puffy bread with a small hole in the middle, and don't really qualify as real bagels. There is another place in Xela famous for making real bagels in an authentic style. El Cuartito ought to go try the bagels there and then try to copy them. Then I'd bump the review to 4 stars. I must say that I did like the cozy atmosphere, though the couch we sat in was surprisingly hard and could use some softer cushions.

Ate here once, very tasty. Drank here twice. Prices are good, atmosphere is nice, mix of local and foreigners. Live music is pretty nice. Overal a very nice place to hang.

The food here is not great, but that's not what you come for. What makes this place cool is the nightly live music, the rotating art exhibits that occupy the walls, the laid back atmosphere, and the pitchers of mojito. While a little pricier then other watering holes, el cuartito is a great place to go to unwind. Also a good option to get some tea in the morning and use their quick wifi. Just don't be annoyingly loud if you are skyping, I hate that ish.
