When I was just a teenager, I took a day tour from a cruise ship with "Go With Gus". I returned to Livingston seven years later and was welcomed by the owners, Gus and Iracema, with nothing but open arms. I spent six weeks at the hotel, during which time I volunteered at a local school and gave English lessons to the hotel staff. It was an amazing experience thanks to Gus, Iracema, and their staff at the hotel, who cared for me like family.

The food is great, the rooms are spacious and clean, the pool is awesome, and if that's not enough, the staff will fix you up with anything else you might need!

I highly recommend a visit to Livingston and a stay with these lovely people that will always have a place in my heart

We stayed 2 nights in this lovely hotel. Gus greeted us at the door and made us feel at home right away. He is a fount of information and very generous with his time. We were delighted with the room, #16, with a comfy king size bed, beautifully decorated, an abundance of shelves for our stuff and lots of hot water-no electric showers here! The common rooms are pleasant, everything is clean and neat. The hotel juts out into the water and the doors to all the rooms on the top floor give on to an outside corridor overlooking the sea. The waves lull you to sleep at night. It was cool when we stayed so there was no need to try out the A/C. The bistro where the included breakfast is served is right across the street and it was great too. They serve nice fresh fish and seafood. All in all, we loved this hotel.

Room Tip: #16 is on the top floor and was very nice and romantic for a couple. Most rooms on the ground floor are farther from the water.

Hi there fellow travelers,

I stayed again at a cozy and delightful hotel in the Caribbean coast of Guatemala called Posada El Delfin. The hotel is located in the picturesque town of Livingston. The owners Gus and Iracema are true troopers and believers in providing good service. The place has the intimacy of a Bed & Breakfast with the services of a laid back coastal hotel. Highly recommend it for anyone interested in getting away from it all for a few days or using it as I do as a staging location for day trips to the coastal beaches in the Bay of Amatique and the Rio Dulce areas of Guatemala for photography and fishing trips. Hope you get a chance to experience a stay at this little jewel in the tropics.

Room Tip: I lIke the rooms that are over the pier, specially if I have company I try to rent the room at the end of the pier.

We found this hotel in a moment of desperation and were not only very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the rooms, but also by Gus himself.

We had (or rather, thought we had) a reservation at Casa Rosada, which is right next door. We had received e-mail confirmation from them that they were expecting us, which apparently did not translate to a reservation. When we arrived, they had no private rooms available, when we had reserved 2 private rooms. Disappointed and uncertain where to go, we took 5 steps and saw Posada El Delfin right next to Casa Rosada. With all of our luggage in hand, we walked in and were invited into the office by Gus, the very friendly owner. Gus gave us a great deal on the room, and we immediately realized what a mistake Casa Rosada would have been, given that there is this gem right next to it. The hotel itself has been very thoughtfully and lovingly decorated and exhudes a warm, welcoming ambience. It was quiet and peaceful, and the end of the covered pier was a great place to watch the sun go down. Gus was a wealth of information about the history of the country, the Livingston community and helped with our activity plans as well. Breakfast at the bistro across the street was included with our rooms, and was fantastic. The staff were friendly and gave us bottled water to brush our teeth and to drink as soon as we entered our rooms. Really could not have asked for a better place!

The only problem we encountered was that there was a smell when we first entered our rooms, which came from the cleaning solutions that had been used to clean the rooms. Gus told us that running the A/C would fix the problem, and he was right. Within half an hour the smell had disappeared, and we certainly appreciated that the rooms had been cleaned before our arrival.

Highly recommend!

We stayed there for couple of nights, wanting for having lunch and dinner at the ocean view restaurant. But the restaurant was never opened, saying that not so many guests were staying. The staff were nice and their service was excellent; however, I had to rate this hotel a bit poor because of the issue of restaurant.
