This place is amazing. It's beautiful, relaxing, and is in the perfect location. The rooms are well kept. We had a bungalow on the river and was so amazed to just sit on our porch and watch life go by. At night there are so many sounds from the swamp to help you to sleep. The food is amazing and it's a great atmosphere. You can swim all day, tube, kayak, and then relax in the sauna at night. They also offer plenty of tours. We can't wait to go back

You will not be sorry! Finca Tatin was the Highlight of my trip to Central America. The bungalows are private and nested along the river amongst lush foliage. The common room is a scene from 'The Island' with it's rasta/harem decor. The family style dinner and common area promotes meeting new people and a sense of oneness among all us travelers. Chris and the rest of the gang are so friendly. The owner has achieved the perfect balance of man meets nature. And the use of the 'Honor System' as means of keeping track of your consumptions and tours is proof that this small community of Finca Tatin SHOW their trust in human spirit. Having tons of things to do from kayacking through Mangroves or going on a hike to the Tiger Cave(you HAVE to do this!), Finca Tatin is great for large parties & couples. I wil be going back to Gutamala JUST to visit Finca Tatin again!!!

Very cool, very different from anywhere else I have ever stayed. The bungalows are constructed on stilts on the water and are connected to one another and to the main buildings by boardwalks. Everything is operated on an honor system--you record how many beers you drink, meals you eat, kayaks you rent, etc and pay at the end of your stay. It's neat not to have to order everything and pay constantly. This is a beautiful area, and the Finca offers a lot of fun activities. I was here for 4 days, but could easily have spent a week. Great food, great staff, great location.

Room Tip: If you are on the cheap, you can stay in the hostel part with all the backpackers; if you can afford...

Finca Tatin was recommended to me by a fellow traveler in Guatemala, and I was a bit nervous about the lengthy travel to get there. I quickly changed my mind while on the roughly 45 minute ride on Finca Tatin's launcha from Rio Dulce to Finca - GORGEOUS. You can spend your days hanging out in the river floating on tubes, using one of the numerous kayaks to explore, crashing in a hammock, flying through the air on the rope swing, or exploring the jungle on one of the many organized treks. The staff and owners at the Finca are amazing, the beds are comfy, and food is yummy! Every night there is a family style dinner that you should (and probably will) opt in for, and in the morning go for the Mango licuado (smoothie)!

Note: It's a Finca, in a jungle. They have power 2 hours a day, you sleep under mosquito nets, and there isn't any internet. Bring some bugspray and enjoy your adventure! :)

Room Tip: If you're traveling alone, I'd recommend the dorm. It is above the main house and will give...

The Finca tatin is a magickal place, I met some of the greatest people I have ever known here. It is a place with a unique lifestyle where one feels as if on the deck of a giant sprawling ship, surrounded by nature. The lifestyle of the people here is a unique experience for anyone who has yet to experience the river life.

Carlos and Gabrielle are amazing people and helped me learn and grow so much, and they have amazing friends! Of all the places I have been only this and a few others feel like home to me.

I stayed here for 4 night with 8 friends. We stayed in the river front bungalows. This place is beautiful beyond words, in the lovliest part of Rio Dulce. The rope swing and inner tubes were great, the water refreshing and the wild life abundant.

The food was amazing, the people friendly, and we LOVED the bungalows - plenty of room and each had a balcony over looking the river with plenty of seating for hanging out. The common area was also amazing for hanging out - tons of hammocks, couches, comfy hanging chairs and a fantastic atmosphere.

They have a great system for keeping track of what you eat and drink that saves you time and makes it feel like you're staying with friends.

DEFINITELY do the tiger cave hike - highlight of our trip.

Also, the guys here can get you from Rio Dulce to the Bay Islands in a day (something I was told was impossible).

I will definitely be back and would recommend this place to anyone!

(As a side note, we did run into spiders and various bugs, but if you want to stay in a beautiful natural jungle, these things are a part of the experience - you get used to it pretty quickly).

Room Tip: The river front bungalows were great, but we got a look at the other jungle rooms and the dorm and i...

I was super sad to leave this place after 3 nights. Carlos and Gabby are gracious and hospitable. During the summer, Calos' great kids are at the hotel too. We had soooo much fun with them. The family-style dinners are absolutely delicious as well.

Word of advice: If you decide to kayak to Livingston (which I highly recommend), you should definitely arrange for a pick up as it is NOT fun to try and kayak against the current. Lesson learned. Hahaha.
