David Yates, the owner of La Casa Colibri Estate in Santa Catarina suggested we do lunch at the Bamboo when we visited Santiago. What a great suggestion.

You can eat inside or out. We ate outside and enjoyed the volcano views, water vistas and parts of the village. Everyone enjoyed their food and had a nice time.

Our boat driver took us right up to the dock. Bamboo is a must do in Santiago.

Thank you to the staff at Bambu. We spent 3 enjoyable days in Bungalow 1, what a fantastic position. With perfect weather we explored the surrounding bay in the kayaks. The food was plain but a good selection in a restaurant with an amazing view. Beautiful gardens and a large pool just topped off a wonderful stay.

When we pulled up to the hotel along the lake, we were just enchanted by the setting. The property is nestled in a lovely garden cooled by gentle lake breezes. The bungalows are spacious and comfy and the pool is large and a great distraction for kids. That said, I fully agree with what other reviewers who have have identified "a strange vibe." in my experience, this was reflected in a lack of attention or care, and I felt that the place lacked warmth and hospitality. For example, when I asked for assitance booking a van back to Antingua, I was told to do it back at the main town on my own.
It's a shame, because with a little TLC, it could really be a superb property.

We stayed there over New Year's weekend and we had stayed there before. Fantastic view and helpful staff (not all spoke English). Food was the weakest point with some food great and others so-so.

We had originally booked Posada de Santiago and ended up walking out after they showed us our room which was beautifully decorated but smelled like mold.

Bambu was such a pleasant surprise! It was the last room available so we really lucked out.

The room was exactly as described and the views were INCREDIBLE. We ended up using their complimentary canoes to go out on the lake and it was so fun. The restaraunt they have on-site is also very good.

I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel if you are staying in Santiago.

I really enjoyed the Bambu even after some of the local Americans giving it a bad rap. I think there is a bit of competition for the dollar going on here and maybe some bad blood. We first stayed at the Posada de Santiago, but were so unhappy that we moved to the Bambu and were pleasantly surprised. The setting, unlike the Posada, is wonderful. It is quite and clean. The rooms are light and bright. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only downer is that the food isn't all that good. If the owner can get the food up to the standards of the hotel, it will be perfect. I highly recommend staying at this value for money hotel. It's beautiful with wonderful unobstructed views of the Lake. The best place in town to stay.

The perfect place to enjoy an excellent stay in Santiago Atitlan, Solola Guatemala. We have fused our hotel with the landscape, preserving and beautifying with a gorgeous garden in which we offer our comfortable rooms and swimming pool for our guests. Each room has private bathrooms with hot water. In the architecture and design elements we have used a traditional tz’utujil village design like the wooden beams, carved stone raised on two separate porches with large wooden columns, and thatched roofs. The bungalows are romantic with their carved stone and thatch roofs, with private gardens, terraces, and bathrooms with hot water. ... more   less
