Stayed here after our reservation at the Posada de Don Rodrigo was bumped. This was part of a tour with Friendly Planet. We were supposed to stay at the Don Rodrigo both nights but were diverted to this hotel the first night......not a pleasant experience. The first room we went into hadn't been cleaned. Dog hair, cheetos, and dirty towels on the beds.....the girlfriend was very tired and not pleased in the slightest. The second room was apparently clean but not much better. We ended up going back to the original room after the cleaning crew (one of the night crew) went through it. The smell of the cleaner was a little strong and we spent a fitful night there. The rooms are big, with three beds. I've seen better bathrooms in a fraternity. If you're college kids looking for a cheap place to stay, this would be perfect. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

Room Tip: None of the rooms we saw were any better than the others

I visited Pana a couple weeks ago on a dental mission. The hotel was very average and I don't mean this as a negative, rather for the price I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were clean. No bugs and clean linens and towels. A pleasant experience.

We were a larger group that booked several rooms. There were a few minor complaints in the rooms that they attended to cheerfully. Overall, we were very impressed with the customer service. We had quite a few special requests, and were helped graciously and successfully each time. They seemed very eager to please. There are two sides to the hotel, so reviews may be based on one side only.

Very warm and kidness treatment. Good food. Showers are a bit small but is worth it because of its location in the principal road.

It was nearly impossible to sleep at this hotel! The hotel is located right along the main road, which is nice, but it is also so incredibly loud inside the hotel that it is nearly impossible to sleep here. The way the hotel is built, it has a sort of empty column that runs the length of the hotel-- all the rooms have odd windows that open up to this empty space...This feature magnifies all the sounds coming from other rooms as well as from the street.

The rooms are nice and big, but could be cleaner. The bathrooms are OK, the hot water is on-and-off and the showers do not drain well. They allow hotel guests to bring their pets in with them into their rooms.

We stayed at Hotel Kakchiquel for six nights during our visit to Guatemala. The location is great, just a couple of blocks from the lake. The hotel itself is very basic but met our needs. The rooms are plain and a bit dark but the beds fairly comfortable. Our bathroom was a bit run down - the shower door broken and the hot water inconsistent. The doors to the rooms did not shut completely and rattled a bit at night if the wind was blowing and the rooms were not very soundproof. The staff were very polite and eager to help, but even so, the bathroom was not very thoroughly cleaned each day and we had to ask for extra towels repeatedly - only two thin old towels were provided and though they gave us extras when we asked, they were removed again when the room was cleaned each day, so we had to ask again. In spite of these little things, we had a pretty comfortable stay and the staff and management were very appreciative of our business.

First the positive: The rooms were very big and the people at the hotel were extremely friendly. BUT we were with 9 people and 5 of us got bed bugs after this hotel. Furthermore, we were in a room on the ground floor right next to the street, very noisy! Bath room was also not very clean. Unfortunate cause it could be a great hotel!
