“My visit to Pana”

What a wonderful place to stay when visiting Lake Atitlan. The house was clean and stocked with everything I could have wanted. The linens and towels were new. The WiFi had a good and strong signal.
What I liked most was that on the weekends the people of Panajachel use this part of the beach to get in and around the lake by boat. The beach in front of the property is where the locals eat and have their food prepared at the beach stalls. On Sunday there was a religious mass, next to a live band playing "bata-chan-ga" with the kids swimming in the lake. It is a vibrant life experience right outside the gates. Then on Monday and for the rest of the week, it was as quite as could be outside the gates. Oh yeah, the location is super safe.
The main grounds keeper (I cannot remember his name) was a great source of information during our stay. He treated my cousin and me so well. He has been in Pana his whole life, so he knows people and places. He set up a boat tour with a captain who took us out all day for a very safe day on the water. I don't know how good the grounds keepers' English is, because we only spoke Spanish to him, so if you can speak Spanish you are in great hands.
The house is not close to the center of town, but a Tuk-Tuk (the little three wheel taxi's) will get you into town quickly and cheaply
When I go back to Lake Atitlan, this is where I will stay.

“Amazing place to stay”

This is a beautiful property right off the shore of Lake Atitlan and a very short drive from panajachel. The caretaker in the property was always ready to help and made our stay a memorable one. Accommodations were excellent and it was a great place to stay for a big family of 8. When we visit pana again, we will definitely stay at "Casa Jucanya".

From the location to the service I loved every little part of my stay. We had Arnold waiting for us at a key point to sort us to the house even though it was late at night.
The house has the most amazing view of the volcano I got used to this very the guard and the girl who helped clean were very accommodating and just so sweeet. I got used to this house very quickly I did not want to leave !!!

“Construction next door ruined our stay”
Reviewed December 13, 2015 for a stay in December 2015

Do not book this property without first verifying that the construction of the units next door is completed! New condos are being built just next to this home and power saws started up at 6:20 AM the morning of our stay! There was lots of pounding of hammers and lots of workmen around at all times. It definitely destroyed the beautiful ambiance of the property. Otherwise, the home was very comfortable--large bedrooms, huge showers, hot water, well-equipped kitchen. And the caretaker, Quiterio, was awesome--he even voluntarily washed our car before we left. Just be sure to call to make sure the work is complete before staying here.

Management Response
Dec 17, 2015
The houses next door was finished 2 months ago from now. Dec. 18th 2015. Our apologies to Denise, We had a communication problem between the House Manager and the people who went to installed the fence on the second floor, the workers doesn't know that the house was occupied and worked as a normal day. We always respect our guests and you can see that in the other reviews.

I'd love to offer to Denise one free night, for the inconveniences.

“Great spot!”

If you are looking for a Panajachel experience but prefer to leave the noise, hassle, and odors on Santander, this is your spot. As veterans of 10+ trips to Pana, we have seen just about everything the lake has to offer in the way of accomodations and I can say that this experience was by far the best fit for our group of seven.

The house was a five-minute tuk-tuk ride away from Pana proper and sat just across from a neighborhood beach that actual Guatemalans (rather than the gringo hoards) frequent. It has a huge front yard that came in handy as we brought our dog along. There was a guardhouse at the front where an attentive groundskeeper was always around to open the gate, clean the grill, etc.

The house itself had an outdoor porch and indoor living room for entertaining as well as a dining area. The kitchen was spacious and fully-stocked with utensils which made cooking easy. We stayed in the master bedroom which was enormous, had a king-sized bed, and offered a beautiful view of the lake out of the sliding glass doors. The master bathroom was spacious as well and the shower was strong and hot – a rarity in Guatemala. The other two bedrooms are a little smaller and have several twin-sized beds.

Our only complaints were that the king-sized bed in the master bedroom was actually a king-sized bedframe with two smaller matresses pushed together and a small plumbing issue (which we may have contributed to) which the groundskeeper resolved in short order. We were initially disappointed at the distance from Santander but the quiet evenings, the bright stars, and the beers around the grill more than made up for it.

“Great place to enjoy Pana and Atitlan ”

Every trip to Guatemala we end up spending a couple of nights in Pana. This was a great place for us. It's located away from the bustle of downtown, on the lake in a quiet neighborhood. It's everything we would expect in a vacation rental in the U.S. Modern kitchen and bath. Well appointed. Nice patio, lawn and landscape. We spent most of our time in the patio just soaking it all in.

This was a very memorable spot and we hope to make it back.
