Great Lake views and handy for Main Street restaurants but rooms are terrible, hard floors, hard beds, dodgy electrics, no safe and very small area- ours had a third bed and put right in front of wardrobe but the worst is to come - the bathroom. Yuk! Shower drain blocked, no sink plug, no hot water or mildly tepid at best. Nothing done when complained, so I would avoid this place there must be better here.
Breakfast is ok with large area outside area overlooking did not eat here at night.

Room Tip: Don't even try

Good day! Feedback from our customers help us to improve services every day. We apologize for possible inconveniences caused during your visit, but we assure you that on a future visit this will not happen, because we solve problems. We also discussed that we are a friendly hotel with the environment so our processes and procedures are aimed at the realization of good practice, for example the electricity savings, for this reason we use solar panels and other technologies that we help supply the water in the bathrooms. Again thank you for your comment and to be taken into account to improve our services so that we can better serve you in an upcoming occasion.

I took my boss to Atitlan for the weekend on a little tour around . This hotel is walking distance to Santander st. and to easy access to take a public boat to visit surround towns. They also can call for a private boat to pick you up right at their dock. Staff are friendly and always helpful. Breakfast buffet was delicious!!!!

I will stay here again and recommend it.

The reason why I decided to stay in this hotel was mainly for the view and the price since if you pay in cash you do not have to pay the 20% tourist tax, which I learned from reading a helpful review here on tripadvisor! Anyway, when my husband called to make reservations one of the ladies that took our reservations was asking for a higher price than the reviews on this site had stated, so my husband argued with her and she hung up. We called back and spoke to a different lady and she told us the price that this website had said it was supposed to be. So it looks like the other lady was trying to ask for a higher price (like 150Q more per room) so as to pocket some of the money for herself. Who knows if this was really her intention or just a mistake on her part, but just a heads up for anyone calling to see prices of the reservations. Also, I knew from previously reading the reviews on this site that you would be able to hear everything from neighboring rooms and noises from outside the rooms. As the reviews stated, yes you can literally hear everything and it made it hard to sleep well. One time there was no hot water after about 2 in the afternoon, so I had to take a cold shower. I learned to take a shower the next time very early in the morning. The breakfast was excellent though and it was included in the price of the room. Several times we had a waiter named Walter and he was very friendly with prompt service. The garden and small dock and beach access were great, too. They have a ping pong table, trampoline, hammocks, and small playground for children. My friends and I got on the trampoline, but got told that the trampoline was only for children ten and under even though there was no sign we could find stating that rule. On the morning of our check out we got told that we had stained one of their towels so they made us pay 150 quetzales, since they said they could no longer use it. Who knows if that was actually the towel from our room because my husband and I don't remember staining one, but it's possible....Anyway, my family that lives in Guatemala said that no towel costs 150 Quetzales. So they were trying to reason with management, but we had to buy it from the hotel anway, so now it is just a souvenir....ha. After we washed the towel a day later the stain came completely out, so just beware of the "extra" charges that the hotel might try to tack on. Overall our stay was decent, it all just depends on what you are looking for. The location, garden, and views are excellent, the food is good, but the quality of the rooms are definitely less than average and management isn't the best.

The location is nice, the view is beautiful, staff are pleasant but the management is despicable. We stayed here in last week of August in a group of 22 people. There were very few other guests. We were quoted prices for rooms that for Panajachel was quite expensive but I suppose we have to pay for the view. In all the communications I was never told that we can not pay by credit card. They took a few credit cards and then arbitrarily decided to stop it. We give pro bono dental care to the impoverished Mayan children and we go to far away places in 3 vans. We need to start early in the morning. After repeatedly asking the management to have breakfast ready at 6 AM (in Cambodia we get breakfast ready by 4 AM at times) and after getting repeated assurance from them, we NEVER got breakfast on time. Every single day we had to knock at the restaurant door. Once it started, everything was fine. Food was reasonable. No one goes to Guatemala for food, and hence no complain about that.

What is the blabber from Management about Environmental sustainability? What a hypocrisy!!!! They provide every room with small PLASTIC BOTTLES of water yet talk about saving the lake where 90% of these bottles end up to choke it any way!!!!! They can easily put a few of their eco filters in the balconies instead of giving plastic bottles.

One day after working with blood, and sweat we returned to the hotel, went to the bathroom and after using the toilet, discovered that there is NO WATER. They knew about it and they were apparently working on it. Yet, no one cared to tell us when we walked in that there is no water in the bathroom.

Wifi broke down almost 50% of the time.

The restaurant service for dinner was good. Once again, Guatemala is not a food centric country. So, no comment about the food of he restaurant.

Staff are very honest. Everything was left in our rooms unlocked because there are no safes in the rooms but nothing was ever touched.

Another bothersome fact is child labor on their dock.

Laundry service was horrible. After getting our laundry all mixed up we decided to hand wash our scrubs. I am attaching a photo of our scrubs hanging from our windows.

Once again, it is the management that really is bad. No, we will never stay here again.

Room Tip: Go Upstairs. Better bathrooms.

Good day! greet you at this time apologizing for the inconvenience unforeseen at the time of your accommodation which was a lack of communication from our team, with relation to sustainability we are currently Certified which are processes that are still lacking improve in the process of placing in rooms ecofiltros eliminating plastic bottles, young people who were in the dock is a social support are given to low-income youngsters in our community and that they are supported so that they can continue their educational studies, not a farm, several activities of the company of which several are in process for improvement and be a 100% sustainable by the actions that are carried out environmentally and socio-cultural.
Environmental As we have water treatment plants which the reuse for irrigation of the gardens, this is one of the examples of the work we do to avoid contaminating the basin of Lake Atitlan in Panajachel and the Environment.
Hoping that have enjoyed the wonderful view of the natural landscape.

We stayed at Jardines del Lago in April, 2012. First, the positives: the property is pretty with very nice views of the lake. The hotel has a restaurant with decent food. I think breakfast was included and involved a pretty extensive buffet, which was good. Also, the rooms are fairly large and are clean. However, they are very poorly made. The walls are super thin and seem to be made of tin or something that amplifies sound. You can literally hear everything that anyone says outside or in adjacent rooms. Overall, this hotel was as the rating suggests--just average. Not terrible, but I probably wouldn't recommend it to a friend.

This hotel is nicely located just at the shore of Atitlan Lake, across from the volcanoes San Pedro and Cerro de Oro, so the landscape is breathtaking, especially in the mornings when the air is clear and the water still. The rooms were average and the door from our bathroom did not close well. My son mistakenly used our room key to open a different room and... it just opened without any effort, so you better keep any valuables in the safe that is offered free of charge at reception. Breakfast was plenty and varied. They have a ping-pong table in the gardens, which was impossible to use as has been rebuilt using pieces of wood that are not even flat!. In short, a good choice for Lake Atitlan, but owners could give better maintenance to the place.

Thursday night we entered the most beautiful part of Guatemala winding down into Panajachel . There was lots of shopping and bargaining for Mayan goods and many places for inexpensive but good food and drink nearby. It was the most restful part of our 8 day Guatemala vacation in tropical paradise.
Our breakfast was with a view ! Sleep was with a view ! All the settings were with the Volcanoes of Lago de Atatilan as a backdrop and Palm tress in the mild breeze. A boat ride across the lake not to be missed.
