Reviewed January 15, 2013

We came here in january 2013 and we loved it - all 5 of us. The rooms are wonderful, outside the rooms there are a big garden with many wonderful flowers. The staff was very kind also. I don't have anything bad to say about this place. The price was really good also! We will return some day!!! WE all loved it!!!

The hotel is situated right on the main street so you are close to everything. They have their own parking area which is a plus. The price is excellent. The gardens are beautiful. It has a small swimming pool and rooms are ample with a teeny balcony. The rooms are clean and have cable tv. There is supposed to be WIFI but we could not pick it up. The street noise is quite clear and loud and goes on into the early morning. The mattresses are worn out; one went all the way to the box springs when we sat on it. Staff was attentive and helped carry our things. We had to back out another car and our own to be able to leave as the man who parked the cars could not be found.

I stayed here for one night in April this year after deciding to leave San Marco on Lake Atitlan (only lasted three hours). The hotel is on the main street close to all the handicrafts shops and restaurants. The lake is a close walk nearby.

The rooms are really big, we had one with two double beds. The cleaning could have been a bit better. The bathroom was very small and dated but sufficient. For the price it was very good value. The gardens are pretty and the pool would have been good, but we did not have time to swim.

A good hotel for a night or two but not the nicest place.

Room Tip: Ask to see the room before you buy. No need to book ahead here.

We decided to stay at Hotel El Chaparral because it was close to the lake and also because it has a free parking lot and we were not disppointed.

Our friends had a room on the street, and they were very happy about it because one of the is a smoker and the rooms on the street has a small (tiny) balcony. Their room was hugggeee (2 double beds and 1 single bed). We had a room in a corner, without an outside window (the window was in the hall way of the hotel). It was a bit small and hot but I loved it. When we entered the room it was very hot and because the window is on the hotel hallways we couldn't open the window. We ask the owner and he brought us a fan so with this, we were more than fine!

A preivous comment was about the bathrooms, that they were not good but in our room and the one of my friends the bathroom was fine. Little problem with hot water but at least it wasn't cold. It was most of the time lukewarm or hot.

There is a pool, but there is no amenities close to it (chairs, towels) and it was very cold. But I have to say that in Panajachel, sometimes it's so hot that you don't care that the pool is VERY cold or not. The last day we were in Panajachel it was crazy, I think it was something like 36 celcius... we couldn't use the pool because we were leaving that day and we didn't have the time to change after a small swim but we just put our feet in the water and it was wonderful.

During our stay we had some specialneeds and the owner was always there to help us and we saw that he was happy to help us and we were not a burden.

A little too noisy, too close to the main street. Close to the lake and the restaurants. Big rooms. Thin sheets.

Room Tip: The rooms are on the main street.

We stayed here for 2 nights and really liked this hotel. There were not many rooms taken so we were given a larger room for 5 people even though there were only 2 of us. The bathroom was clean and the shower hot ( sometimes hot showers are hit and miss in Guatemala). We had tv which might not be a good thing but a longing for some english in the midst of spanish was very welcome. The pool wasnt cleaned as I dont think it had been used . This didnt matter as the area had a bad time with the rainy season just past. While we were there they were cleaning and preparing the hotel for the busy season. The price was well worth it

It is a little hotel in the middle of Panajachel. Very well situated, not far away from de lake (5 minutes walking). Budget and clean. It has car park and swimming pool. TV and a little garden. The worse thing was the bathroom; though it was private, it was smaill, rusty, careless. It is one weakness to be taken into account.
