Me and my dad stayed here for a night because we needed to get to the
city airport quickly the next morning, and if I was ever in the same situation I would definitely visit the hotel again.

We found the rooms were absolutely gorgeous, the bathroom had a big bath tub and huge mirror which was great for me when i was doing my hair and make up! All the staff were very polite and helpful, and the
breakfast there was delicious, it was buffet style and had everything
from traditional Guatemalan food to English and American specialties.

The only fault I could find with the hotel is the pool, from face value the pool looks filthy because there's so many leaves in the pool and it could definitely do with a good clean out, but when you start swimming in the pool it isn't murky or dirty at all, it just looks unpleasant. The hot tub was boiling and the pool was refreshingly cool in the Guatemalan sun, so after I got over the skepticism of the cleanliness of the pool i really enjoyed my swim.

Guatemala City as a town is awful. We spent a few hours there where we went to the shopping center and the old town, the shopping center was tacky and like any other mall in the world, we were not impressed
in the slightest. The old town has devastating poverty where you see shanty towns and lots of beggars, and we stuck out like sore thumbs as we were pasty Brit holidaymakers and we felt so awkward and unsafe
there we decided to leave after a little while.

All in all the hotel was fabulous, but there's nothing to do in Guatemalan City itself, we would recommend visiting Antigua (45 minutes from Guatemala City) instead as the town is beautiful Spanish colonial and has great shops and cafes and we felt really safe there. Enjoy your trip to Guatemala!

My husband and I recently stayed at the Quinta Real in Guatemala City. Beautiful grounds, great views (from the restaurant), gorgeous architecture, romantic at night (they light candles throughout the entire hotel). Our room was very spacious and clean. Beds though weren't very comfortable......very hard and sagging in the middle.....they definitely need updating (we stayed in a master suite, but I do believe the business suites have the "new, upgraded" beds). Service was outstanding. We flew in at 6:30 in the morning and the hotel shuttle was there waiting for us at the airport (a conmplimentary service)......easy to find them because the pick up guy was holding a large sign with our name on it. The bellmen were especially helpful....particulary Luis, so friendly and would do whatever it took to make us comfortable. There's only one restaurant at the hotel. Food was very tasty (ate there 3 out of the 4 nights and for a few breakfasts). The restaurant itself was beautiful with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the volcanoes. I used the fitness room once.....small but had enough machines and weights to keep me happy. The pool area wasn't the best (sits against the main road......you can't see the road but it's very noisy) and appeared dirty. Only a few plasic lounge chairs surrounding it. Also there is a TON of construction going on next door......Quinta Real is building a HUGE addition which will be apartments. VERY NOISY and dirty. Security was top notch. We went down to Zona Viva a few times (short taxi ride away)......highly recommend Kakau.....an authentic Guatemalan restaurant. Great ambiance too. All and all we would definitely recommend the Quinta Real and would certainly stay there again in the future.

We stayed last week at the Quinta Real based on Trip Advisor reviews, and we were not disappointed. The low profile buildings with gardens (versus the typical luxury skyscraper) provided a wonderful, romantic ambiance. The rooms (on the business floor) were large and comfortable, and breakfast in the business lounge was intimate but efficient. The hotel arranged a nice 3-hour private city tour for us which was both enjoyable and reasonably priced. The only negatives: the pool did not look very clean for swimming, and the music in the (nearly empty) bar was loud and distracting as we tried to sip our nightcaps. But all in all, the hotel has a lovely atmosphere and we would definitely stay again.

We are adopting a child from Guatemala and stayed at the Quinta Real during our second of three trips. The hotel is lovely, the rooms are great and the staff is always there to help with your every need. We were travelling with our two children and they still talk about the delicious breakfast buffet.

The trouble we had with the hotel was the location - on our first trip we stayed at the Westin and enjoyed being able to walk to shops and restaurants and being in zona viva - and the exercise room and pool. The exercise room looks like it is in a cheap Holiday Inn from the 80s with a manual treadmill and old fashioned exercise bike. And the pool was pretty dirty. The walking paths advertised on the website are very short and are terrible for running (you go thru the parking lot). Our expectations in this area were set high because the facilities at the Westin are amazing - the ex room is a place where locals belong and has state of the art everything and the pool is so clean and beautiful with wait staff etc.

We actually ended up switching hotels mid-trip to make it easy on ourselves. Although it is a nice hotel, it didn't meet our needs.

The hotel itself was incredibly lovely. They say it is the nicest hotel in Guatemala City and they may be right. Our room was one of the best we've ever stayed in, anywhere. It actually looked like it did on the internet. We would never have been able to afford a hotel this nice in the states. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only problem we had was that we were staying there as our splurge night during our vacation and aren't actually rich. The food at the hotel is expensive for Guatemala and make sure you ask what things cost when you order a drink at the bar (Shock!) Also, when we asked about shuttles to Antigua, which all other hotels will help arrange, they seemed confused and wanted to get us a private car and driver at four times the cost. We ended up going back to the airport and taking the shuttle from there.

I stayed at the Quinta Real for the last night of a two week trip through Guatemala. I booked it because it was close to the airport and away from the traffic and chaos of Guatemala City. I was pleasantly surprised to find a five star experience. Check in was rapid, service excellent, room service quick and delicious and the room was huge, beautifully decorated with every amenity. The grounds are beautiful; we had a view to the inside water fountain which was quieter than the street side. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We are adopting a child from Guatemala, so we have visited the city a few times this year. This was our first stay at the Quita Real, and we were very pleased.

The hotel features beautiful common areas, with lushly lanscaped courtyards and galleried interior spaces. The views are lovely. On a clear day, you can see the volcanos tower above the sprawling city.

Our room was a Grand Class Suite in one of the hotel's corners. The room was extremely spacious, with a dining area in a small turret, a living area, and an elevated bedroom area. The furnishings were very clean and seemed quite new. The bathroom had a jacuzzi tub, which made bathing our son a bit difficult, but we later found out that you can request baby bathtubs from the hotel.

The staff is incredible at the Quinta Real, and I cannot sing enough praises to them for their help during our stay. We requested a microwave and extra pillows, and they arrived almost immediately. The housekeepers stripped and washed our sheets daily, and the room was always sparkling.

Since the hotel is not in the city, it is not possible to walk to local stores for supplies. However, we were personally driven to the local supermarket twice by the staff. On both occasions, our driver went into the store with us and assisted us with our shopping! The staff was also helpful to our co-travelers. When one of them became ill, the staff phoned a local pharmacy, translated the conversation, then drove to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription.

The food at the hotel was a bit less perfect than the staff and the rooms. The restaurant is pricey, and the room service menu is somewhat limited. However, the free breakfast buffet is excellent.

The Quinta Real is a full service hotel in the purest sense of the word. What a great stay.
