“Excellent place for our visit to Guatemala”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2012

This is an excellent place for our Guatemala experience. Located close to the airport (a few minutes ride), was also close enough to the city museums, markets, and other points of interrest. The restaurant is verry good, the breakfast buffet suited all the prefernces of our family members. But the best part is the kindnes, friendship and committment of all the staff, they make you feel special. The Internet broadband is good enough to have video conference (we used Skype) and to access, even your heaviest, files on the web. Taxis are available 24 hrs a day. Whenever we would be back to Guatemala City, this will be the place to stay.

Room Tip: The part of the hotel that looks toward the volcanoes view. It's an amazing vew!

Good hotel, nice price for the level of service and lodging. It's convenient to the airport, but a bit away from the nightlife and shopping around Zona Viva. We walked to Zona Viva, but it's a bit of a long walk. Breakfast buffet was amazing. Elevators were a bit slow, which got frustrating.

This hotel is right in the downtown area and very close walkind distance to a large shopping mall. Lots to do in the mall and pretty nice stores. Hotel is not new but is well kept and in decent condition. Has a nice pool and gym, good restuarant and good atmostphere. Breakfast is a little pricey for what you get.

I am an experienced traveller, business as well as pleasure, and on average stay more than 60 nights/year in hotels in the US / Europe and Central America.

One of my favorite hotels I come back to is the Crowne Plaza in Guatemala City.
People are very friendly, willing to do the extra step to make your stay comfortable.
Rooms, although a bit outdated, are clean, well equipped and affordable.
The restaurant serves excellent and diversified meals for breakfast (until 11 AM).
Dinner buffet service starts at 7PM and has a good variety of different local and international choices which changes every day.

The bar with its big TV screens, where the play concerts, is noisy.
A gym on the 11th floor allows you to get rid of the calories you took at the restaurant.

On average HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and thumbs up fore the people at the front desk and its manager who keeps control of the guest's wishes.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back are quieter.

Very Friendly Front Desk Staff, excellent buffet with different choices every day, rooms are very clean and bed are of good quality. Have stayed as many as four days in a row for business and I have been very pleased overall. The Speed of the internet could use some improvement. Close to Shopping Centers and other Restaurants.

Room Tip: Quiet zone rooms have better TV set.

We were given a complimentary room by the airline, because our 8:00pm flight got delayed until 2:54am. It didn't actually leave until 4:00am. Shuttle service and dinner were also inclusive. The hotel was a very short trip from the airport, close to Burger King and Pollo Campero. Once we arrived at the hotel we checked in at the front desk, and everyone was extremely professional and friendly. I was impressed with the layout of the hotel. Nice bar area with giant screen tv and plenty of seats. Nice little casino with slots, black jack, poker, roulette, etc...
Very nice restaurant, with an excellent buffet and dessert selection. The food and the service by the waiters were very impressive. Walked out to checked out the pool, and wished it was day time. Very nice pool, with a gift shop and plenty of seating space. Checked out the complimentary Internet cafe. Computers were just a bit slow, but worked fine. Nice stairway with a huge mirror near the reception area. Security was dressed in black suits, with shoulder strapped assault riffles. Better than military looking security that you see everywhere else. The room was clean, and came with a bottle of water, safe, iron and ironing board. Would've liked to have had two wash cloths to go with the two towells.
The shuttle picked us up at 2:00am as promised and got us to the airport in a timely manner.
Overall, I would have to say this hotel exceeded my expectations, and would definitely recommend it to anyone that needs to be close to the airport.

I had a terrible sleep, the walls and windows seem to be made of thin paper. My room was located in a high floor but in front of the hotel, so all the noise form the street kept waking me up, it was like the window was open. Two of the times I woke up to the noise of the room located above mine after they flushed the toilet...

You can tell about the quality of the building by looking at the reception, the back (where the hotel logo is displayed) looks like made of a cheap piece of painted wood...

I've stayed at Crown plaza hotels before, this one does not live to the expectations at all...
