Fancy restaurant, with the impression that you're walking into a very elegant house with a staircase in the first Room where you'll find the first batch of tables. Each Room of the house has a couple of tables for small groups. The wooden furniture makes you feel you're at a friends house. Service is great. Crème brulée tasted exactly the way It tasted back in Paris.

We loved everthin we tried at Altuna. Of special note is the Calamari as it
was as tasty as can be. Also the Paella was excellent. Big enough portion
to feed two if you wish. Great big shrimps and the rest of the seafood were
fresh and the entire plate outstanding.

There is a greta wine selction too.

Service was excellent as was the overall value we received.

If you desire spansih cuisine, give this a try.

The third time eating at Altuna in Zona 1 was by far the best. The waitstaff are professional and attentive. When I turned to D. and said I was thinking of having calamari, our waiter who was putting a plate of small bites on the table, commented that Calamari en su tinta was very good. Let me tell you something. This is a special dish, one I wouldn't try at home. It is not just the appearance but also the balance between the delicacy of the calamari, the ink and anything else on the plate. So,I've had the dish a handful of times. The best until Altuna was in the home of a friend in Madrid. And that was years ago. Altuna makes the best Calamari en su tinta that this reviewer has ever had. Simply served as a sea of black satin with a sculpture of white rice accenting the contrast, it makes a dramatic presentation. D. ordered Altuna's ever popular Paella. To start, we also shared a plate of imported Spanish anchovies and well prepared salad. Finally, we topped the meal off with a classic Creme brûlée and the Basque version of same. The wine selection leans toward the Spanish of course. Altuna is expensive, though not by big city North American standards.
