“The best of the mayas is tikal, after it, all other mayas places aren´t good enough”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

For knowing all tikal, one day is not enough, but for visiting the main plaza yes. the difference from the mexican mayas places, is that in mexico, the places are shown as tourist park atraction. with lights for the night, small grass, etc. tikal es the real jungle, is the largest state city of all mayas world. is place for arquelogist, eco turism. so real that some time you have to be aware were the monkey are... if they are over your head... you have to wach what can be coming down... real jungle, that you cannot go out of the road in some places is dangerous; palms with big thorns, snakes, jaguars, crocodiles, spiders etc. can be found. tikal is advanture. main plaza is secure main temple is higher than teotihaucan, cancun or palenque doesn´t have that high buildings. after visiting the main plaza. all other mayas cities doesn´t look big enough.

“Tikal National Park and Yaxha”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Tikal is quite an experience, it is best to get there early since it can be very hot! Bring water (they sell water inside the park but very expensive), good walking shoes, sunblock, hat and darki glasses. Visit the museum to get an idea of what you are about to see, enjoy your walk through the rain forest, you will probably get a pleasant surprise seeing monkeys and other wild life. It is best to get a local guide so that you don't miss the highlights of the park. If you go to Guatemala visit Tikal!!!
Yaxha is quite small and can be viited in half a day, From the top of Temple 216 in the Acropolis you get a wonderful view of the ruins, Lake Yaxha and the surrounding rain forest. If you are lucky you will hear the howling monkeys. If you can time your visit to see the sun set from the top of Temple 216.
