The rituals were authentic and very fascinating to see "shaman" doing something that has been performed for hundreds of years.

“Unique place to visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 16, 2012

It is only 4-5 blocks from the market and really worth it. The tombs and mausoleums are painted in bright colors and they have different shapes. Very different and something else to do in Chichi other than the market!

“Must see attraction”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2012

This is one of the most "active" cemeteries I have ever visited. There are a constant stream of families coming to visit their ancestors. There are several Mayan fire cleansing ceremony sites within the cemetery which are interesting to watch. Do not miss the shrine to the "chicken bus drivers" and other drivers. It is one of a kind.

“Colorful grave stones showed that many young children were interred there.”

The cemetary looked like a colorful village because its above earth grave stones were painted in pastel colors.
