“Pleasant Weekend”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

Our stay at the Americus Garden Inn could not have been nicer. The Inn itself is a properly restored 1845 mansion with interesting architectural details. Our room was extremely nice, with an outdoor porch overlooking a garden on which we unwound from our drive by sipping cocktails. Kim and Susan are delightful hosts and conversationalists, making the stay more like a visit to friends (who happen to live in an historic home) than a stay in an hotel. They were very good, and very helpful, in discerning our tastes and then suggesting things we might see in the area and a restaurant we would enjoy. The Inn is right in the historic district, so after a lovely breakfast and good coffee, prepared by Susan, we took a long pleasant walk looking at all of the area's 19-th century homes. Our only regret is that we could not stay longer. Next time we are in the area we will plan for a three-day weekend and, of course, stay at the Americus Garden Inn.

Dear Michael,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience in our beautiful home. The Americus Garden Inn is located in the residential historic district of Americus, surrounded by other architecturally interesting homes. We are so glad you took the time to enjoy strolling our neighborhood and relaxing on the veranda.

As a B&B, we take both B's seriously. We are delighted to know that you enjoyed the breakfast we prepared, especially our Americus Garden Inn signature blend coffee. Our special blend was created by Susan using the fair trade, organic coffee beans that are roasted and blended right here in Americus by Cafe Campesino.

It would be our pleasure to host a future stay. We hope you will allow yourself a little longer visit to truly enjoy all this area has to offer,

Warm regards,
Kim and Susan Egelseer

We had a 2 night stay in a warm, beautiful environment with the most gracious hosts you will ever meet, Kim and Susan. I was unable to attend the local conference because of a sudden illness but it was just like being at home, recuperating with needing to rest and quiet time, We felt very much at home and were well cared for; wonderful home cooked breakfasts, snacks and drinks always available, beautiful landscapes and rocking chairs on the porch, just a lovely peaceful environment. The decor of the home is beautiful, wonderfully comfortable beds, and spotlessly clean! We highly recommend Americus Garden Inn to everyone !!!

Dear Brenda:

We were so sorry that you fell ill and were unable to participate in the activities that you came to Americus for. We wanted to make sure you were as comfortable as possible, knowing how difficult that can be when you are sick and away from home. Although your plans had to be changed, we are glad that you were able to enjoy your surroundings here at the inn.

We hope to see you again in the near future.

This place was truly the most friendly place to stay. I really wanted to find a cute little romantic spot for a mini getaway vacation, and this place was perfect. The house is so big and spacious but luxurious all at the same time. We were met by welcoming faces, amazing personalities, and tremendous hospitality. Apart from the charm of this gorgeous house and beautiful gardens, the Americus Garden Inn Bed and Breakfast has so much more to offer. The breakfasts are definitely something to rave about. You will never leave hungry for sure because the food is incredible. You will be stuffing yourself for every last bite.
I enjoyed my stay at this bed and breakfast so much and will not hesitate to return. This was my first stay in a bed and breakfast, and I have to say I am now officially spoiled. From the moment I walked in until the second I left I felt transported back in time with the beauty of the house, but pampered from the luxury of the amenities. Can't wait to return!

Room Tip: Rooms upstairs are quieter, but they are all amazing any one of them would be a great choice!

Dear Lizzieanne:

Thank you so much for taking the leap of faith and trying a bed and breakfast! We are so glad that you allowed us the privilege of introducing you to our personal style of B&B at the Americus Garden Inn.

We believe that a B&B should do 2 things really well - bed and breakfast! Your room should provide lots of comfort and breakfast should be the perfect start to your day. We are so glad that you enjoyed your experience.

Our 1847 home is a beautiful, historic structure with lots of character and we believe it truly is "where history meets romance". We are glad that you agree. Hope to see you again, soon.

My sister and I stayed for three nights when we came down for the Clarence Jorden Symposium. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The hosts are gracious and go the extra mile to make sure your stay is comfortable. The breakfasts are delicious and a perfect start to the day. They also have snacks and soft drinks available all day long.

The gardens are beautiful and peaceful, and the rooms are quite comfortable and decorated very elegantly. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in the Americus area!

While you're in Americus, learn the history of Koinonia Farm and go visit, if you can. You'll find the best pecans anywhere in their welcome center. It's also worth your time to go into Plains and get some peanut butter ice cream and see the Jimmy Carter historic sites. In Americus, we enjoyed the Habitat for Humanity Global Village, and of course, Cafe Campesino for amazing coffee.

Can't wait to go back!

Dear opgal:

Thank you so much for staying with us while in Americus for the Clarence Jordan Symposium. It is hard to believe that it has been 70 years since Koinonia Farm was founded. So many people don't know that Koinonia is the "birthplace" of Habitat for Humanity and that the Fullers (founders of Habitat) lived at Koinonia when they first moved to Americus.

We highly recommend a visit to the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site, in nearby Plains, where you can visit the boyhood home of President Carter, the museum and the campaign headquarters. Everyone has to try the peanut butter ice cream when strolling the shops in downtown Plains.

Habitat for Humanity Global Village and Discovery Center is one of those hidden treasures here in Americus where you can get a true glimpse of the world of work that HFHI does. Our special blend of fair trade coffee is roasted and blended at Cafe Campesino where you can get a roastery tour or enjoy a "cupping" on Friday mornings at 11am.

We are so glad that you enjoyed your visit to our area and your time in our home. We look forward to seeing you again.

Susan and Kim Egelseer

Kim greeted us upon our arrival and made us feel as if we were the most important people in the world. He showed us through his beautiful home dating back to 1847 and gave us tips on restaurants in the area as well as trips to Andersonville and Plains. Thanks to him we looked for and found Jimmy Carter's boyhood home. Our room was spacious and extremely comfortable. Susan is a WONDERFUL cook/chef. Breakfast each day was more like fine dining than breakfast - homemade blueberry muffins, chocolate chip scones, gingerbread pancakes, oatmeal walnut pancakes, shirred eggs, tomato omelet, fresh fruit, juice and coffee, unbelievably good! I would highly recommend the Americus Garden Bed and Breakfast to anyone looking for an unforgettable vacation experience!

Dear Susie:

Thank you so much for sharing your experience at the Americus Garden Inn. We believe that what sets a bed and breakfast apart from a chain hotel is the level of personal service. Our guests are the most important people in the world, to us, and we try to provide everything we possibly can to make your stay with us perfect.

I am so glad that you enjoyed the breakfasts that I prepared for you. I try to tailor each day's menu to our guests' preferences. As an ACE certified Health Coach for over 10 years, I take nutrition seriously and try to provide a variety of healthy, nutritious and delicious items.

All of our rooms have something special and/or unique and it sounds like the Veranda Suite was the perfect choice for this visit. Next time, you might want to choose the Balcony or Scarlett Suite.
