Coral House is beautiful! The rooms are immaculate, the AC is great and the pool is heavenly. Everything about the Coral House is welcoming and the owners very friendly and well-informed. Did I mention the yummy breakfasts? Check out their website!

Stayed one night in April 2007. Owners have done a great job of restoring the house and property and make guests feel at home. Rooms and common areas have all been redone to a high quality level and the property has the only pool in town. Definitely the top choice for in town lodging

You'll recognize the Coral House Inn by the coral color and the vintage red and white VW van parked in front.

Americans Rick and Darla Mallory bought and renovated a 1938 colonial-era house and turned it into one of the coolest guesthouses in Belize. There are Confederate graves in the cemetery next door, a legacy of the Confederate immigration to Toledo after the U.S. Civil War.

The four guest rooms, US$75 to $95, have tile floors, good beds, air-conditioning and free wireless high speed internet. There's a small swimming pool, too.

Coral House Inn has a handy location in town, and you can walk to restaurants or down to the water. Along with Hickatee Cottages and Beya Suites, this is another great addition to the rank of PG hotels.

Note that Coral House's web site address has recently changed, to [--]

If you are planning a trip to Punta Gorda, Belize and require lodging there, do yourself a favor and book your stay at the Coral House Inn. The owners, Rick and Darla Mallory, have done an outstanding job refurbishing this old home and have turned it into a truly comfortable and enjoyable place to stay. Their wonderful service and the Inn's intimate atmosphere incorporate to create a peaceful and relaxing environment that is sure to be a joy for every traveller. While there are other places in the area at which one could stay, you'll quickly discover that there really is no good reason to do so.

This is a beautiful Bed and Breakfast in Punta Gorda, Belize. I can't say enough about this place. The owners have rehabbed a home overlooking the Caribbean Sea and have spared no details. It is gorgeous. They have taken special care to outfit their home with Belizean works of art and furniture, some of which you can buy at their gift shop. The rooms are all different, and I saw all of them while I was there. They have really comfortable beds, a celing fan-which is all you need with the ocen breeze, beautiful bathrooms with a constant flow of hot water (not always easy to find around here). Each room has its own caribbean color scheme that is again, outfitted with local artisans work and furniture. The palapa bar by the pool is a great little place to meet people, and Darla makes a mean mojito and some fabulous rum punch. She and her husband Nick are around if you have questions and the service is fantastic. They are very knowledgeable and they genuinely care about the people of Punta Gorda, trying to encourage the use of local goods and services wherever possible. They have nice bicycles that you can use at your leisure, which is a great touch. PG is a small town and all you really need to get around is a bicycle. The pool is wonderful, and I think it may be the only one in PG. A welcome sight when returning from a jungle trip or a trip out to the cayes. They are right on the water and are surrounded by lush gardens. There is a beautiful little sittting area under a mango tree (I think its a mango) behind the house, and the second level where the rooms are has a nice wrap around deck with a hammock and some belizean hardwood chairs that are perfect for sitting and gazing out at the sea. The included breakfast boasts fresh loocal fruits and breads and there is always a fresh pot of piping hot coffee. Wireless internet access is constant, and another real find in the area. It's nice to have a cocktail at sunset by the pool overlooking the sea and be able to check your email, or not...I usually chose to not...you decide. You can't ask for better hosts or a better place. The next time I'm in Punta Gorda I will definitely stay at the Coral House Inn.
