Punta Gorda is already blessed with excellent restaurants, many with plenty of veggie options but Gormier's is definitely the special one. Try the burritos and lasagne. For breakfast, the scrambled eggs are heavenly! And yes. You'll definitely meet and chat with Mr. Gormier himself - but that's going to happen everywhere in PG!

There are just three picnic tables outside of Gormiers that serve as the diningroom. Gormier introduced himself to us minutes after we arrived and took our order of vegetarian lasagne. About thirty minutes later, he brought us full plates of lasagne, green salad, fried plantain and plantain fritters. The lasagne and fritters were curry-flavoured and delicious. The salad was fresh and the fried plantain was a nice replacement of french fries. My partner had the local fruit juice that tasted like starfruit. Sorry, I've forgotten the name of the fruit. Everything came to just $14 US. The menu had a wide variety of vegetarian and seafood dishes. Definitely worth trying.

We stopped at Gomier's after it was highly recommended by many fellow travelers. At first sight, the kitchen looked a little questionable, but the food really was great. We were the only ones there, but the food took a very long time (over a half an hour). I had Snook (fish). During our meal, Gomier himself came over to chat with us. He was very nice, and ended up showing us to cut open wet and dry coconuts, gave us a taste test, and explained how he makes is own coconut oil, grated coconut, and coconut milk in his restaurant. The menu has lots of options, the price is good, and they even have crazy flavors of ice cream (like avocado, and other fruit that I have never heard of).

We have been to gomiers frequently, when we go to punta gouda on an on going mission trip, vegetarian and vegan food is excellent. The service is a little slow but it doesn't matter as you sit outside under a thatched roof looking out at the ocean sipping on fresh fruit smoothies. Gomier will open specially for you just with a phone call or stopping by. If you are in punta gouda it's a must!!

Mr. Gomier caters to the vegetarian, but his food is plenty tasty for those who typically eat meat dishes. There is also some seafood, but mostly, you should try his home-made tofu. It's delicious. And the seaweed shake was a surprising, sweet, but not too sweet, healthy drink. I would avoid the lasagna, but mostly because they don't have good cheese in Belize.

We dined with fellow travelers whom we met at our lodgings, and they recommended the soy (tofu)-making class. Unfortunately we weren't able to fit this in. The cook and host is eager to talk to you and share his philosophies on healthy eating, respecting nature, and tasty food.
