We went to Orange Walk Town to take the river trip up to Lamanai. Hotel de la Fuente was such a great find. We stayed at the back where the rooms are newer I believe. Our room was pretty and spotless and had excellent air conditioning. Our tour to Lamanai was all booked before we arrived and was also excellent. We had a very informative Mayan guide (Ignacio), and the tour was relaxed, fun and educational.
We stayed for 2 nights. We woke up early sat on the front patio and watched Orange Walk come to life. There was free coffee, bananas, johnny cake and various meat pies brought to us by Yvan. We just kept saying over and over- I can’t believe we get all this for $55.00!
Yvan directed us to Nahil Mayab for dinner, and we returned there the second night also. The food was very good and the restaurant was a little oasis.
Hotel de la Fuente is perfect for anyone wanting to tour Lamani, or just explore the area.

We stayed at De la Fuente for two nights. We choose a new room in the part that is at the back of the hotel. Room was basic, but good. Good bed, tv, fridge, wifi and a good shower. Location in town is good. Friendly, helpful staff. They arranged our tour to Lamanai and took us to the bus station by car when it was raining. Great service.
Two cons:
1) no breakfast possible (although they do have some sweet cakes with coffee, but no tea). We found it hard to find a restaurant for breakfast and went to the great bakery not far from the hotel.
2) the rooms are quite noisy (thin walls and tiles on the floor). We were unlucky with our neighbour that kept calling and coughing. We asked him to lower his voice while calling, but he ignored us. We were already in bed and there are no phones in the room, so I could not easily contact the reception for help. But noise from guests is something the hotel can't help.

Some suggestions for dinner:
- Nahil Mayab: excellent food!
- Camie's: get your drinks across the road and get your food at this great place. The owner is very friendly and the food good and cheap.

I completely enjoyed my experience at Hotel De La Fuente. The rooms were nice (I chose one of the new ones) and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. My only complaint was the I did not really like the tour that was arranged (the tour guide was late picking us up and really rushed through the river trip which I was looking forward to). This was not on the hotel though. They did their part just fine. I highly recommend this hotel and a visit to Orange Walk.

Take a room at the back for quiet. Rooms are basic, but large with fridges and had everything you needed for a couple of nights. Well maintained and very clean, the rooms are good value. The owners are very helpful and arrange everything for Laminai trips. If you come here from Belize City, feel cxonfident to take the express bus. Taxi drivers will tell you it is not operating or is not going that day! They lie.

Travelling through Mexico with my husband (from England) and our friends Bev and Mike from San Francisco we travelled down to Belize and planned to stay for for several days but in the event only stayed one night as tropical storm Richard was upgraded to a hurricane and the government insisted all tourists leave Belize. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. The hotel was delightful and our rooms at the back of the hotel were brand new with excellnt facilities and looked out over the gardens. Cindi was most welcolming and all the staff were so friendly and helpful. We were planning a trip on the river to the ruins the following day which Cindi had organised and promised lots of wildlife...so so disappointing. We had taken the 'chicken bus' into Orange Town Walk having left the Jeep at a hotel at the border which proved to be an interesting experience and one I would certainly recomend but when we had to leave in a hurry Cinci organised a taxi to get us out fast in case the buses didn't run.. We would certainly have liked to see more of Orange Walk Town. We had a superb meal at the Nahill Mayob Restaurant ...what a find a real treasure of a place with a lovely atmosphere friendly staff and woderful food...if you get to Orange Walk Town you really must try it..
If we are lucky we may get back to Hotel Fuente.
