My wife and I found Laru Beya through a very carefull and diligent Internet search. Basically we wanted a place for three days before we boarded a chartered catamaran with the Tradewinds Cruise Club. The caring staff and wonderful facility was everything we had hoped that it would be and more. Sparkling clean, airy and comfortably laid out. We stayed on the third floor ocean facing suite (Penthouse Junior Villa) with full kitchen (all stainless and new), high ceiling with beautiful finished rafters, large super comfy bed, and digital TV and sound system. Never turned the tube on - but plugged my wife's IPOD right into the system and grooved to our own tunes. On the front deck overlooking the western Caribbean we had views into tomorrow and beyond sitting in either our hammock, lounge chair or two other chairs. DInner at sunset watching the seabirds and feeling the warm wind were fabulous. From that deck we climbed our ladder to our very own rooftop Jacuzzi soaking tub. 360 degree views! WOW.
I haven't said enough about the staff and especially Lizbeth. From being responsive and helpfull with e-mails before we ever arrived, to personnally delivering a split of champagne for our aniversary, the staff looked out for our every need with friendly, smart service.

To go on much more would be to use superlatives. This place is all that it says it is and more. My wife and I like to be spoiled, and we have stayed at some pretty nice places. When we return to Placencia and the Western Caribbean there is no doubt that Laru Beya will be our home on land.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Laru Beya. Unfortunately we only had a few days--we would have liked to stay much longer! Our room, although to the back, had a sliding door and balcony with an ocean view. A hammock and chairs on the balcony are great for lounging. Our room was clean with plenty of storage space, a comfortable bed, fridge, A/C, and a good shower.

The landscaping is beautiful and attracts a lot of birds, which we enjoyed watching (as well as a large resident iguana). Due to the constant sea breeze, there were no mosquitoes and it doesn't feel too hot. The ocean is nice and warm, although seaweedy in this area, and it looks like it drops off after a short distance. There is a beautiful pool, which my husband enjoyed swimming in. Across the road on the lagoon side (only a minute walk--the peninsula is very narrow here), their own marina is under construction.

The restaurant has simple, delicious food. We especially liked the breakfasts. If you go hungry here, it's your own fault! Lizbeth set us up with a couple of great tours, and we enjoyed shopping in Placencia village. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. We definitely want to go back!

This was our first trip to Belize and we chose Laru Beya because of the amazing reviews on tripadvisor. It did not disappoint!! We have been to Cabo, Mazatlan, and the Bahamas, and Belize is by far our favorite.

There are many great things about Laru Beya, but our favorite was the people - Lizbeth, Troy, Elroy. all were immensely helpful, always warm, welcoming, and friendly, and all went out of their way to make sure that we had an amazing vacation. Lizbeth arranged amazing tours through Monkey River ( a must! ) where we saw howler monkeys , a family of manatees, crocodiles, birds, everything really! She also arranged an amazing day of snorkeling, lunch, and boat transportation that picks you up at the resort on the beach at Laughing Bird Caye. Elroy and other staff were out daily from very early to late making sure that the resort, beach, and pool were kept clean and beautiful. Elroy also lent my husband a machete (spelling?) so he could cut open his own coconuts! Troy was the amazing chef, who not only cooked us delicious food daily, but went out of his way to bring it to us one night when we were watching the Stanley Cup in our room, and also cooked us a breadfruit that we bought in town and gave to him as we really wanted to try it :)

I would recommend the bikes, they were an excellent way to get to town! We also walked on the beach to the village (sore calves the next day!) and walked in on the road to the village as well, and I would recommend the bikes - it was a very quick ride. If none of those appeal to you, Laru Beya is more than wiling to give you a ride when they go into town, or call you a cab.

The resort was so peaceful, quiet, and serene. It was the perfect distance from Placencia Villiage - and they are building another small restaurant across the street on the lagoon which we cannot wait to try as we will undoubtedly be going back! Thank you for the most incredible vacation we have had, it was like a second honeymoon for us! :)

The first thing that impressed me was how Ian McField the owner and designer, blended the resort into the exsiting landscape. The grounds are lush and colorfull. The smartly furnished rooms are accented with warm wood trim and beautiful tile floors. The pool seems to flow right out into the ocean. There was no better view of the white sand beaches than from the roof top hot tub. Chef Troy keeps the dinner menu fresh and varied. I gained several pounds from daily enjoying his shrimp quesadia, the best I ever had. Lizbeth and Ramona were more than helpful in arrainging our trips and cab rides. Laru Beya is truly paradise.

Our first trip to belize would not have lived up to its expectation were it not for the accommodations we experienced at Laru Beya. Being able to fall asleep to the calming sound of the waves meeting the shore is just the beginning of what Laru Beya has to offer. Simply paradise!!

The rooms were spacious, meticulous, and fully accommodating. From the complete kitchen to the private, rooftop jacuzzi, it's a wonder we ever left the room. The beautiful woodwork that makes up the ceiling is such an exquisite sight to wake up to. It definitely adds a comforting warmth to the room.

The staff and personnel are extremely friendly, informative and responsive. They went out of their way to assist us with whatever we inquired about. When you're hungry and feeling too relaxed to venture into the town, just walk downstairs...the restaurant on site is an excellent choice. The cook will prepare a tasty meal for you.

The swimming pool and beach area is very well maintained and serene....beach towels are provided. And for the more active, they have a little sunfish sailboat for you to venture out on. Or if you like, they also provide bicycles next to the front desk. No extra charge for either.

The bottom line is that we really enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere, privacy, and the accessibility of complete indulgence in the wonderful place they call Laru Beya.

Thanks Laru Beya, we will return!!
