“Eat here and be happy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2013

I don't know what secrets Miz Brenda wields in that tiny kitchen but be prepared to swoon. This is street food elevated to the max of flavor. Seriously, everything is amazing. Don't leave without trying one of her crackaroons (coconut/ginger macaroons to die for).

“Unbelieveable BBQ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2013

Brenda is one in a million. We met her a few times in Placencia out and about (it's such a small town!) Her jerk chicken is out of this world... we had it twice (two days in a row!) She always throws in a free dessert or sometimes a free drink. She is so friendly and this is as authentic as it gets, folks!

“NOT so good!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 17, 2013

We read all the reviews! We aniticpated the day we would eat at Ms. Brenda's! We arrived and made a specail order for chicken and lobster! Ms. Brenda is very friendly and accommodating to our needs. However, we were very disappointed with the meal, the chicken was "okay" (we had way better chicken at the other restaurants) and the lobster was cooked in this red bbq sauce (not so good) and the meat was very rough. The meal was very expensive compared to the other local restaurants in the area. Overall, we were not happy with the food and we did not eat at Ms. Brenda's during our 2 week stay in Placencia.

“A lady at a wharf serving up good and low cost food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 17, 2013

This was a pretty bizarre encounter for us.
We were taking a little boat out to a caye for snorkeling and this lady in a shack right at the entrance to the wharf said, hey I will have tamales ready for you when you return.
We returned. She ushered us to sit down at the picnic table there and started bringing us food and a fruit punch, We did not see a menu nor order anything. She has a certain was about her which is very disarming - she is a great lady. The food she served tasted excellent. We ate, drank, and enjoyed - we had no idea how much all this was costing us - she did not even seem concerned about costs. In the end we spent 15bz ea, and were full on tasty 'street' type food including coconut macaroons. Definitely go eat here. It is absolutely nothing to look at, in fact you might wonder if you are at the right place. If you find yourself wondering that, well then you are there.
Just sit down, enjoy, relax, have a casual chat with her and any other locals hanging out around there, and have a bite to eat.

“Good food, questionable sanitation!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2013 via mobile

Brenda is very friendly. We ate there, I was very sick after eating here as well as another couple that went the next day. She cooks well but the cleanliness is questionable.
