“Beautiful, quiet Inn on Maya Beach”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

This is a beautiful, small ( 8 or so units), quiet resort nestled on Maya Beach. It is near several restaurants (other than the one at the inn) that are in walkable distance. You do have to walk on the side of the road and carry a flash light at night.

It is about 7 miles outside of Placencia. So a car or taxi is needed to get into town. That is well worth a day. Tours can be booked from the hotel. A taxi to town is 20 USD.

There are 6 bungalows which are clean and nicely furnished. But the shower is either cold or scalding hot. So you have to make up your mind that that will not bother you.

The food at the restaurant is very good and the prices are reasonable. All the staff are friendly and courteous.

Room Tip: Rooms 1,2,3 have the best ocean view.

and I'm ready to go back again. Lovely country, beautiful people that work here. They make you feel like royalty. I can't say enough good things about Singing Sands Inn and the people that work there. Fantastic food and service. Their beach is private and there is always something to do. If you are looking for a home away from home (but better) book your stay at Singing Sands.

Ok we did a lot of research before picking Singing Sands.
The first issue was un avoidable "weather" it was raining everyday and cool for the area., our van tranportation from the airport to Singing Sands broke down near Belmopan and we had to wait over 1 hour for a replacement van. (of course They offered no discount for the Inconvenience ) and lost resort time.
the cabanas were very nice,no AC , little to no water pressure, hot water would appear at times but no Guarantee when it would be hot, they said they had golf carts for rent but when we asked everyday they sad it (they had only one) was not available. after a few days of no golf cart we were told that "Mr. Mike" had it for the whole week. (Mr. Mike turned out to be one of the owners)
we settled to use the bicycles they offered , So after they took nearly 1 hour to unlock and air up the tires we were able to go biking. That was the hi light of our stay. as for the private pier and the cabana bar at the end of the dock we never seen it open or operated by anyone , so we could not enjoy the private pier.

Scuba diving ! don't even ask< agian weather is not controlable, but sending expert divers with snorklers was just wrong.!! a waste of $145.00

and by the way Mr. Mike was never pleasant or even introduced hime self to his paying guests.

Sorry I will never go there again.

A delightful stay in every way. Very good to great food. Fun activities. The snorkel day was our highlight. But laying back and doing nothing is fun here, too. Cool little cabins, well ventilated. And they have their own private pier, with hammock, bar and good chairs for layback time.

Room Tip: Cabins 2-6 are great!

For a relaxing beach stay, this is a great one. You can be as atonomous or gregarious as you want to be. The staff is friendly, helpful, and not instrusive. The cabins are simple, and have marvelous Talavera sinks and shower tiles. The ceiling and floor fans kept the humid night air moving and made sleeping easy. Leave the cabin and stroll the beach, the pier (and enjoy millions of little fish flash their silver sides at you), or wander into the restaurant for a meal or a drink. Food is excellent!! We had our own car - and found that we didn't want to venture out. First day was a bit rainy, but second day we took a boat tour out to Silk caye for some snorkeling. Fantastic!

Room Tip: Recommend the cabins. No door to the bathroom, but privacy is good and the cabins are solid. A lit...

Beautiful property, well maintained, friendly staff but would not recommend to any of my friends for future trips. Beds were uncomfortable, ours in the airconditioned room, was actually slanted on one side. The shower leaked. The airconditioned room was a joke really because all the slats open to screens and yet we were charged more for this room than our friends in the cabins. The staff did not mention that the bathroom ceiling was open to the elements and we were inundated with mosquitos all night. We had friends in 2 of the cabins and they both described uncomfortable beds and dirty mosquito netting. We opted for another hotel for dinner as the afternoon appetizers were simple, small and lacked flavour. We were sad as we very much looked forward to this stay after a week on a boat. We won't be back again.

Room Tip: go up to the Maya Beach hotel instead...

This was the easiest trip I've ever had to organize, which meant a lot since we spent so much time on our wedding. All we did was book our flight to Belize City (only 2 hours from Houston airports!) and our hotel stay, and Maya (the owner) booked our flight to Placencia, our pick-up from the small airport, and our excursions. This is a small property with about 8 cabanas right on the beach. You feel very secluded, but you can also go down to Placencia village if you want to be around lots of people. This place is not extravagant, but very comfortable and welcoming. We loved our stay at the Singing Sands Inn, and loved Belize! It was a wonderful, relaxing vacation. I've never been anywhere so peaceful.

Room Tip: The garden villas have air conditioning, while the cabanas do not. Check the average temperatures b...
