I recently got back from Placencia and cannot get over how beautful it was, the Singing Sands Inn has officially become my go to place, my boyfriend and I are already planning more trips to this resort specifically. The staff was fantastic, the place is gorgeous, the food at the bonefish grill is delicious and the drinks are delectable. Everything was very reasonable priced, We were very happy with our bill at the end of the trip. Everyone was so accomadating, wish I was back there right now. If you are going to Belize, GO HERE, you will not regret it at all

Room Tip: Cabana #2 has the best airflow and view, but #7 has air conditioning but it isnt a cabana.

My wife and I visited Belize in March 2012 and we booked this place based on the reviews from this site. There is not 1 bad thing I can say about this place. Maya is usually the main person that runs the place but she had to go out of town while we were there so her sister Hyon took over instead.

Upon check-in Hyon went over everything with us and gave us they key to our room. We went to our room and we were surprised how cool the straw cabanas were. The pictures don't do this place justice. You have to see it in person to understand the beauty and amazing design of this place.

We set our things down and walked out our door to the restaurant/bar that was maybe a 10 second walk! HAHA The whole wait staff is very personable and we got to know each of them by name through our 7 day stay there. The food at the Bonefish Grille (Singing Sands restaurant/bar) was amazing and is headed by their head chef Domingo. We ate at least 1-2 meals here everyday as the location was obviously close but more importantly the food was that good. We tried to eat at most restaurants on Placencia but kept coming back because nothing could compete.

The view from the private beach was spectacular. There are many hammocks around the property, chairs to lay out in by the water, and a very long pier you can walk out to and hang in one of the hammocks over the water! They only have 5-6 cabanas and a few rooms so this place may be small but it is very nice to get away. My wife and I wanted a relaxing vacation for our first anniversary and we could not have picked a better place. We have been in contact with Singing Sands and are already planning our trip back later this year.

Hyon set up all of our excursions for us and it was very clear that her and Maya are the reason this place is ranked as one of the best places to stay. Thanks to everyone at SSI and Laura and myself look forward to visiting again very soon!

We just returned from three nights. We would never have found Singing Sands without Groupon. The resort has 6 cabanas and I think 4 hotel room like flats. We stayed in one of the flats because when we made our vacation plans a week in advance, there were not any cabanas available. The flats aren't as "rustic" as the cabanas, but they do have air conditioning, which was nice. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. There are enough beach chairs and hammocks for everyone, and because there are only ever twenty someodd guests. The pool area is beautiful and clean. The resort has kayaks and peddal boats and snorkel equipment and bicycles you can rent. Everyone is friendly and accomodating, and Domingo, the chef, is FANTASTIC. He is also really friendly, and will come out and visit with guests when time allows. The employees and/or Micheal and Maya, the owners, will go out of their way to help arrange activities and excursions.

If your vacation goals are to relax in a beautiful, quiet place, I can't think of anywhere better to do so.

A couple of notes -
It is not terribly easy or inexpensive to get from the airport near Belize City to Placencia. You can book a flight on Maya or Tropic Air (about $100 per person each way); you can rent a car, which is not cheap, and drive through the Belezian countryside (it takes about 3 hours), or you can take the bus system, which only costs about $10 each, but involves riding in an old, unairconditioned bus for 4+ hours. We opted for the rental car route, but I think next time we will fly.

There isn't a lot of movement in the ocean here, so there is a lot of seaweed on the ocean floor. You can't play in it very deep because of it. You can walk through it or swim over it, but it isn't like hanging out on the beach in Florida.

Bring bug spray.

We had a fabulous time, and plan to return as soon as possible.

Room Tip: The Cabanas are rustic and super neat, but the flats have airconditioning, and as I understand from...

This was our first trip to Belize and staying at Singing Sands. The staff here is wonderful. So accommodating. We were greeted by Mr. Ever and yummy welcome drinks. The food by Chef Domingo was absolutely to die for!!! Andy, Eddie and Ever were always there to fix us the best and prettiest drinks in the world and to check on anything we might need. The owners, Maya and Michael, are very friendly and there to accommodate you in any way possible before and during the trip. They made arrangements for our jump flights and our excursions. We stayed in cabana # 3 (Sea View). It had a wonderful view. We are already talking about going again in the next year.

Room Tip: Cabanas 1, 2, and 3 have the best views of the beach and ocean but all are wonderful.

I recently returned from a second trip to Belize and it was also my second time to stay at the Singing Sands Inn. I absolutely love everything about this little place. And little is a good thing. Singing Sands only has 6 cabanas, that's it. You don't have to worry about it getting crowded because it's so small and intimate. The service at the Singing Sands has always been outstanding from the time you book your reservation to the time you check out. They can arrange Tropic air flight for you as well as transportation and tours. The cabanas are kept very clean and have pretty much everything you need. Keep in mind the cabanas are not air conditioned so in the warmer weather it's still fairly warm throughout the night in the cabanas.

The beach is always kept clean, although as is the case in most of Belize the water just off the beach is mostly seagrass/seaweed. My favorite spot on the property is out on the dock and on the hammock. It's a shaded and very peaceful spot to read or just listen to the waves.

Another great feature of the Singing Sands is their restaurant, The Bonefish Grill. This is the best restaurant in the area and if you stay here all you have to do is walk a few feet and you can experience amazing food in addition to the great view!

If you are looking for a perfect getaway then you must stay at Singing Sands Inn. It met our expectations and more ! Your stay will make you forget about EVERYTHING at home. We travel a lot and we never had a better staff of folks....they end up feeling like extended family. Stayed in cabana #1 which is out on the beach alone and catches all the breezes. The other cabanas are lined up on one side of the property and if having AC is a must for you, there are rooms inside the main inn. Cabana #1 was wonderful and no need for any AC. We left our slats open and were woken by the sunrise each morning so even though we brought an alarm clock, there was no need. We stayed during the 'rainy season.' It rained briefly for 2-3 days during a weeks time. Being from Florida, this is no different than home so don't let the 'rainy season' scare you out of going. As a matter of fact, I was glad to be here at this time while everyone else was afraid. There was a couple of days where we had the whole place to ourselves before families starting pouring in. The owners, Mike and Maya, are involved and you will see them around the resort. Domingo, our chef was amazing in his creations and I think they are fairly priced as compared to restaurants at home. They are big portions and they saved my dinners for lunch the next day if I couldn't finish eating. We also dealt with Ever who bent over backwards to schedule whatever it was we wanted to do, Edison and Obando were fantastic guys....always a smile and always willing to accomodate no matter the request. They would even offer me my favorite drink when we would return from daytripping. The place is clean and the beach is combed every morning. There is a dock right at the inn if you have time to fish or have a pole. The rooms were cleaned every time we left so what a nice surprise to come back to.. They're all awesome ! They have golf carts you can rent as well as clear bottom kayaks. They also have bicycles that you can ride as a courtesy. This is your work out or schedule a snorkeling or diving excursion. We rented a car for 2 days and toured 3 quarters of Belize !! We stopped at local markets and brought back fruits we never had and the kitchen staff prepared them for us . We also dealt with Heidi at their sister Inn, Roberts Grove and she was fantastic also. We rode up and down Placencia on our borrowed bikes hitting all the bars for just one drink and moving on. This is a cozy place with hammocks all over their beach in excellent atmosphere. I was loving Belize and my new friends and really hated to go home. P.S. Don't forget to have a Belikin beer while here because you can't get them in the states.

Prettier than the online photos! We stayed in Cabana #1 for a week and loved it! The Inn is immaculate, nd the staff all top notch! Chef Domingo has to bethe best in the country! Ever, Edison, and Orbando always went out of their way t tend to ur needs, and they were friendsly, polite and always smiling.

The Inn was a fantastic "Home Base" for us, and we thoroughly enjoyed the stay!

Room Tip: The Sea Front Cabanas are a "must." You need the unimpeded ocean breeze to keep them cool...
