Think The Girl from Ipanema. This is how you'll feel with the clean sand, the relaxing music, great food, three swimming pools, friendly, courteous staff, and beautiful decorations. Curtains flow in the wind between the inside and outside, the space that divides the deck from the restaurant, reminding you how close you are to nature, as you drink your smoothie, coffee, or special drink looking out over crystal clear waters and a beautiful pagoda built right off the coast at the end of the boardwalk. It's a place to walk slowly, get up early and watch the sunrise, hang out on the porch, swing in your hammock and watch the lizards pop their heads out from between the boards in the walkways that run throughout. Parrots roam the trees freely. Take an early morning walk and listen to the bird calls at dawn. Don't miss the tours; they are the best. I recommend snorkeling, and the ruin and cave combo tour especially. You will be well taken care of. You will feel right at home. Slow down and relax...

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room, they might put you on the back side of the complex away from the ocean. We...

Roberts Grove was a very warm and welcoming place for me and my two adult daughters on our family vacation. We were very happy with the facilities, food was good, we enjoyed the Belizean food restaurant in particular, great snapper dishes! The cerviche was terrific too. We found that that the tone set there was good for a range of ages and types, and we had congenial conversations with several families and groups while we were there. Staff were very friendly and went out of their way to assist us, making our stay quite enjoyable. The equipment for water use was readily available and staff helped here as well. We also availed ourselves of the spa offerings and felt nicely pampered.
It had been awhile since we took a trip and we felt like this offered a great experience for us. We would go back in a minute!

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms have a better view of the ocean.

Checked in on Friday night, were told We'd have to change rooms, but they'd upgraded us to a 1 bedroom suite. Room was fine, nice view but no hammock and some bugs. We are in a developing country on a beach, so not the end of the world. Went to dinner with friends family from the area at the RG restaurant. Food was average, service was average. Spouses kabobs were dry & not flavorful. My pasta was bland and not hot.

Morning breakfasts were spotty in quality. It was not uncommon to run out of coffee cups and or have cups that couldn't work with saucers. Breakfast had pastry that seemed like day old from a bakery. On a few days it included pastry s with meat. The "fresh bread" regularly was frozen. I've no doubt some was fresh and even the freshly thawed was good. Fresh fruit was good, but was mostly bananas and watermelon. Toasting oven conveyor was challenging. It would often eject your bread on to the floor. Overall not much different than any chain hotel continental breakfast.

Spouse indicated the massage was very good to excellent.

When it came time to move rooms we had to contact them, then it was still unclear as to how it would be accomplished. Spouse asked and was told we should pack our bags and their staff would move our belongings once next room was prepped. When we had gone to breakfast we noted that the cleaning team was in our next room. After breakfast they had appeared to finish with our next room, but no notice from front desk regarding the key swap, so I went to front desk to ask about key swap. Front desk staff felt need to tell me that they had already explained to my spouse the procedure, when I pointed out that's we had plans and needed something more certain regarding turning in our keys and getting new keys they then indicated I should leave the key and pick up the new key when we returned for the evening. I then had to make plans for medicines that can't be trusted to hotel staff or left in an auto, fortunately we were traveling with people who agreed to keep these items in the transition. I then had to discuss need for assistance and discuss the meds with these folks. Who wants that hassle on a trip? Eventually we had to go back to front desk to inquire again, when it became apparent that the room was ready & our things had been moved.

While we appreciated the upgrade, their attitude about it was not appreciated. There lack of clarity on the process was not helpful.

We also went to visit friends & family in Northern Belize and visit Lamanai. We returned around 9pm, as we weren't familiar the the area, we didn't stop for dinner expecting the hotel to be able to give us advice as to where we could get a later bite to eat. When we called the hotel for a local late night recommendation, the response was there is nothing open. No offer to open up the kitchen, no offer to call around, no available recommendations. Just a straight nothing available.

We drove passed the hotel and found a few places that the hotel might have recommended or called in advance for us. At least the hotel should be aware of local places times of operation.

By late I mean 9-10pm.

The beach directly in front of the hotel was manicured, but a walk down the beach was unnerving. Just beyond the grounds we came upon significant piles of trash and debris. Dozens to hundreds of used disposable diapers, needles, garbage etc. if that is what was washing up next door, the same had to be washing up on this hotels beach, but was being cleaned up before guests could see it. Was the water safe to swim in with that sort if debris? Should, could the hotel have notified us of the unusual debris?

We regularly travel to big cities and far flung destinations. The best hoteliers are accommodating, know their area and can give good advice on local restaurants and features. More over they are never short or snarky or cop an attitude.

Note that just because RG is priced higher, don't expect to get high end service.

It was just average.

We spent three days here as part of a longer trip in Central America.

Whilst the hotel is not particularly photogenic, it is right on the beach and the staff do well to maintain it so that it is very clean.

Rooms are large and spacious and hot water is plentiful and the shower is good.

The food in the restaurat is good quality and the portions large so we generally ended up sharng a main course. Staff were happy to provide an extra plate.

However, the downside is the very poor bar and restaurant service which can be irritatingly slow.

So we ate in their Mexican restaurant across the road where the food was equally good and the service exemplary.

Interestingly only a fairly poor and limited contintental breakfast is included.

Be aware that if you stay on Sunday, the hotel appears to have a policy of accepting day visitors. On our stay, we became overrun with very excited children and adults shouting and screaming as they ran from one pool or activity to another. It completely ruins the peace and tranquility that I suspect the hotel is trying to create.

I recently stayed there for 1 week and found the property beautiful and well maintained. The rooms were very nice and serviced both morning and night. If you plan on diving or fishing the marina is right next door. And I can't say enough on how nice the staff was by the end of the trip they almost felt like I was leaving family.

The draw back was the food, we had purchased the meal plan which for 2 people was more expensive then room itself. Thier breakfasts at the main hotel restraunt is good. dinner is another story. dinners there were always over cooked and tough. We tried Sweet Mamas for lunch and found it to be tough as well. Habaneros for lunch and dinner seemed to be better. However if you want truely great food singing sands a couple miles up the roas is excellent with a culinary chef on staff. Or go into placentia and eat at Rumrunner, Detach, or some of the other fine local places. You will find them much cheaper then the resort restraunts.

Untill they fix the food situation I highly advise agianst purchasing the meal plan. everything else at the resort is excellent.

i had visited and stayed at Roberts Grove several times before, and enjoyed the ambiance, the pier, and entire feel of the Hotel. So when it came time to do something special for my proposal, it was the perfect place. I had called in advance and requested some special arrangements, and without a doubt, when i arrived, the staff was more than willing to accommodate my needs. Our room was on the the third floor, and very romantic. We had a romantic dinner, with live music, wine and dessert, the perfect setting for such a special moment.
The service, was amazing, the staff very attentive and never too far away. Id definately recommend a visit and stay for your next vacation.
