The best compliment I can give this place is that you really feel the love of a home cooked meal with family. Momma Dawn and her daughter Jolie were the most genuine people I met while staying in Placencia. My friends and I ate their twice. Both times, we were not disappointed, and yes, both times, we had her key lime pie. To me, the pie was the perfect cap off of our meals, cool, tart, sweet, crumbly crust. Oh my.

Anyway, I highly recommend her grilled lobster tails with coconut rice. As you can see, I left no lobster meat or rice uneaten. My friend had the fried snapper and red beans and rice, that too was yummy. The heading had perfect seasoning, and the fish was juicy flaky, not dry.

On my 2nd night, I had the fried shrimp with sweet and sour dipping sauce. Also yummy.

I'd like to note that Placencia seems to be a seafood driven town, as they mention the lobster and crab season on their menu. Knowing this, it was great to see pork chops on the menu. My other friend had that with the same sweet and sour sauce glaze. I got to taste and it was the same quality one gets in the states. Perfection. Dawn's Grill n Go is perfection.

Had lunch here recently. Server had a dour expression on her face the whole time, acted like she had a personal grudge against us. Reasonably priced food but then when I paid her (in US $$) she short-changed me quite a bit. Didn't realize it until we left and I didn't want to go back and confront her as I certainly couldn't prove it. I will not go back to this place when there are so many other places to eat in town that treat you far better!

We had a great lunch here. Very reasonably priced. Dawn loves what she does. She came out to make sure our meal was to our liking and it sure was. Staff was very attentive.

Dawn's place is not tiny. The person who wrote that review has the wrong name. It is a sit down place with more like 8-10 tables and is absolutely delicious. We ate there several times in March and were back there yesterday. Every dish the family had earned rave reviews. And Dawn is absolutely charming. She visited our table while we enjoyed her delicious flan for dessert. She had just reopened after her Christmas holiday with family in Belize City so I don't think she was even open when the Dallas Texas person "reviewed" the restaurant. Eat here once and it will be the place you want to keep returning to while in Placencia.

The flavours were exquisite. Each ingredient fresh and the seafood straight from the sea. The food did not last more that 5 minutes on our plates. Service by Jolie, Dawns daughter was friendly and professional. We ordered the fried conch starter which was lip smacking good. I had the grilled shrimp with coconut rice, my husband had the pork chops. 1 son the shrimp curry and the other had grilled conch. We all raved about our meals. After dinner, Dawn (the owner and cook and Jolie spoke to us about the history of Placencia, the people and the food. We had a nost enjoyable evening and I would highly recommended Dawns Grill to anyone looking for a delicious local meal with friendly effecient service.
