Description: The Pickled Parrot is a thatched roof restaurant and bar mere footsteps from the crashing surf of the Carribean. We have delicious blender drinks, rum concoctions and ice cold Belikin Beer. Our food is home cooked style comfort food, made from fresh organic ingredients. We specialize in hand-cut french fries, burgers, chicken cheesesteaks, and Philly cheesesteaks. Our popular everyday option is a fresh large salad topped with shrimp, chicken breast or ribeye steak. Special diets are easily accomadated. Portions are ample and prices are low. Check out the daily $10 specials on the Pickled Parrot Bar & Grill Facebook !

My husband and I went to eat there, but were told no food that day; so we had a "Parrot Piss" drink - very good! Owner Eugene was there and son was bartender; very friendly and nice until wife/mom showed up; the whole atmosphere changed and we couldn't wait to leave. Didn't go back to try their food.

Excellent food and drinks! The owners and staff make you feel right at home. My wife and I stumbled upon this place and ended up coming back twice before we left. The specials are great @ $10BZ! We will be back in December and visiting Eugene, Adriana, Tommy & Kareem!

Perfect bar for me, plenty of people, including locals, stop by frequently but it doesn't have the loud craziness of barefoot. Run by a family retired from the US, the lunch specials (10BZ) are set for certain days of the week, and they sell out fast! Locals come here for the lunch special and get it to go. Occasionally has live music, good US style food if you need a break from rice and beans. The owners & staff remember your name when you come back!

I see I will be the only person to give the Pickled Parrot a negative review, but here is my opinion:
The food is just standard American grub, but it just isn't very good. Philly cheese steak and burgers shouldn't be too difficult to make good, right? Apparently the owners are new to the scene, so perhaps they're just working out the bugs. They did have a small group of (fairly, ahem, "rowdy", shall we say) people that seemed to hang out there every night, but otherwise there didn't seem to be many other new customers.
The entire vibe of Placencia is quite "Americans on Vacation", so this definitely fits the bill. But if you are looking for a more authentic Belize experience, I would say try somewhere else.

We at the Pickled Parrot were upset to read this review and very confused about the tone of the opinion. Yes, we have standard American food (grub seems kind of primitive) because we ARE an American restaurant. The logic in that is because in a Belizean village, or any village, there should be a variety of kinds of restaurants. We are NOT trying to compete with the Belizean foods here, we are offering a different choice. And we are sorry you weren't happy with the burgers or cheesesteaks, and we don't understand why? We wish you spoke with one of us while you were here. As far as the same rowdy guests at night...was the tv on with the local soccer player who played in the national games? Because that was important to support and we were all quite excited about the sports. We are happy to see the same expats every day, as well as new tourists and long standing locals as well. We are proud of the variety of customers here. All of us here at the Pickled Parrot truly strive to provide the best atmosphere, fastest service, with the best drinks and food. While this is the first and only unhappy rating, we are giving our first response and are wondering what went wrong so that it never happens again.

Such a surprise to learn the new owners are from my hometown! You can be sure they will greet you with hospitality. Great start to a bar crawl up the beach.
