Nice atmosphere at this restaurant, which is part of a hotel. We came in for dinner only.
The kitchen staff was coached by a friendly German named Guenther, who is trying to introduce local food in the menus. I had grilled lobster with gallo pinto (rice & beans), which wasn't a very good combination. We could barely see our plated with the sparse lighting, even after the staff moved our table.
The place seemed a bit over the top, with definitely over-priced food.

A group of colleagues gathered here for dinner on one night of our trip. The restaurant is directly on the beach, but has a surprising upscale feel to it. We were initially seated outside, but when it started to sprinkle, the staff quickly moved us to another table without any hesitation. This table was on the edge of being outside, so they lowered some curtains to keep us dry. When the rain stopped, the curtains were raised again to allow the breeze through.

Nice candlelight atmosphere which I might have enjoyed more if I was on a romantic vacation. But as I was dining with co-workers, it seemed a bit stuffy for a beach restaurant; I wasn't expecting chargers under the plates, linen napkins, and beautiful hand-blown glass light fixtures hanging from the ceiling. But the food was very, very good and the staff was very attentive. Just rememember, restaurants like these have very small kitchens and everything is cooked to order. So don't be in a hurry - just relax and enjoy the pace of Belize.

Stopped in on way back to Placencia after full day of activities off peninsula. We were tired, hungry, and thirty. The service was excellent. The atmosphere is very soothing. Nice 'euro-lounge' music. The barbecue pizza was delicious and filling. The handmade chocolate liqueur was very nice. I often forget about this place, but it will be pushed up the list of places to go. The prices were very reasonable. Will be back soon.

We came for dinner with two Kids, 15 and 7 during our stay in Placencia. The setting of the restaurant is romantic, lovely music in the background and the most amazing staff. It felt like they were all trained in Europe or for a top notch restaurant, which the Bonefish certainly is. We all ordered something different and even our 15 year old, who usually is not that adventurous with food, couldn't be more amazed how delicious his meal was. I took the coconut curry shrimp with cilantro rice. It was one of the best meals I ever had in a restaurant, so by curiosity I had to ask who it chef is who crates such pieces of art.. We returned for dinner on our last day, the owner greeted us like family, the chef came to say hello and the waiters spoiled us with friendly smiles and words. This place is extraordinary and above average even compared to places in California or anywhere else in the world.
