We went on an overcast and windy day, so the snorkeling our day was not ideal, however the island itself was geat to visit and snorkel from. I am confident that on a better day, this would have been a super snorkeling site. We did see an octopus, several lobster, and a few other cool marine life. There are no turtles, rays, nor sharks at this location however, so be aware of that if you are hoping to see those - they can be found at some of the other locations however.

Perfect beginners snorkeling. Great group trip. Swim around the entire Caye. Enjoy a picnic lunch. Learn about the reefs.

We took a boat charter arranged for us by the Laru Beya where we were staying. Our boat captain and guide Ian was really friendly and knowledgable about this nature preserve. The boat ride was about 45 mins and really fun. Upon arrival at Laughingbird Caye we were stunned by the beauty of this tiny island. The snorkeling was really great we saw so many fool fish and Ian pointed out different kinds of animals and fish. And to our surprise the lunch we were fed was prepared by Ian's wife. It was delicious, no sandwiches here. My only disappointment was all the sea trash that floats over from Honduras. The islands shores in some areas are cluttered. :( But what I learned it the school children are taken of field trips here to help clean up the debris, dead a wonderful lunch and then get to snorkel and learn about the reef.

Laughing Bird is a little bigger than Silk Caye. It has a pavilion with tables for eating and sun/rain shelter. The bathrooms are on the other end of the island. It's pretty rocky getting out to snorkel, but the marine life is worth the effort.
