After four days of being doused in rain, The Secret Garden provided a welcome escape from our resort and an exquisite meal, magically prepared in the remote town of Placencia. Our hostess recommended spot on selections. You must try anything with chimichurri sauce. We also loved the ceviche preparation. The environment is a little scrappy when you're not able to dine in the garden, but that's kind of the point. Low-key, friendly, great food.

We had read about the Secret Garden and happened to stumble upon it trying to get out of a torrential downpour! We ate inside due to adverse weather but the setting outside was lovely as well. Food was excellent and of a very high standard. Staff were friendly and helpful as were the owners. Wish we had more restaurants like this in Edinburgh! No hesitation in recommending this restaurant to anyone staying in the area. They also kindly organised a taxi back to our hotel at the end of the evening.

Was here for dinner and had a good experience. It appears the owners place a lot of emphasis on server knowledge of the food, which is great. The chicken lollipops were unique and the accompanying sauces very well prepared. BF had jambalaya which had a very tasty, red spicy rice. I had the gumbo. It was very good, but the chicken and shrimp could have used a little more seasoning and care prior to cooking in the gumbo...they were a little bland. Presentation was the most careful we've seen in Belize and the staff was great.

This was the second restaurant we went during our 10 day stay in Placencia. The setting is simle yet tastefull. You imagine yourself in a garden, but yet you still feel as if you in a sleepy village at the same time, not soem fancy resort. teh food was very well presented, but be perapred to be surprised at the saem tiame. The Shrimp Cocktail for instance was very different from what we are used to in North America. I would definitely recommend this place to anybody that is visiting placencia.

I had read about Secret Garden on TA...it was on my list and also recommended by Chabil Mar. Placencia has a few sort of bar/restaurants that serve pretty standard fare but Secret Garden is different. During our stay of 3 nights we ate here twice so you know we liked it. Menu is interesting, Sabrina the manager/owner was so friendly and offered not only help with the menu but tips on the area which were very helpful. The presentation of dishes is unique and artistic and while a casual place, the food is very high quality and seemed more gourmet than you might expect. It is an outside garden atmosphere so if it is raining only a few tables inside. Reservations are important . I would highly recommend Secret Garden. Prices are very reasonable and you will instantly feel welcome. This was our favorite restaurant on our 11 night trip to Belize.
