The owner is delightful and extremely helpful. She has a lot of valuable information for travelers, and has made great recommendations. The linens and towels are washed for each person, and the bathroom and common area are kept clean. The dorm rooms are a bit tight, although I think the air mattresses are more hygienic than a traditional mattress.

This is beyond budget traveling. Literally; the beds are air matresses and extremely uncomfortable. It was a terrible night of sleep. There is really nowhere to relax unless you go to the rooftop - but it was unfinished and there was garbage everywhere, including diaper remnants that had been torn-up by dogs. Ugh! The other option is to hangout in the owner's livingroom - but that just felt weird to me. Since very few people stay here for an extended period of time (port town), I would for surely find a different place.

Not sure who posted about this place previously but this place is in a bad location, dogs are barking all night long, rooms smell, the breakfast is mediocre, and the host is very unaccomodating. Not to mention the sign in front has another name on it so I walked around dirt roads for 30mins before finding it. Stay away! And Dangriga isn't great as a whole either.....

Ok..so Val's is owned by Donna. She is a wonderful hostess. Her mom's name was Val. She is the best resource in town for laundry, internet, and phone service. She is so friendly, helpful, and just a delight to visit with. She has lovely hammocks on the front balcony that face the ocean. Her place is clean and well appointed for a hostel.

Everything that Letitia2004 said plus more. Val's/D's is so warm and welcoming. I noticed Dana also employs a high school aged boy to rake the beach in front of the park across from her hostel. Dana said she does for her guests to enjoy the beach. Dana also has 2 dogs, Maya and Princess to help guard my motorcycle 24 hrs a day. great place to stay. Best waffles, made from scratch no mix.

Room Tip: All dorm rooms face the beach With hammocks on the deck. Also has an upper deck with several hammock...

This place is like a four-star hotel in the hostel world. The owner, Dana, is so warm and welcoming. A breakfast of waffles, fruit, and coffee is included. The showers are hot and the wifi is fast. There is a fan on each bed as well as a wraparound clothesline if you prefer to wash your own laundry (Dana has a laundry service). The location is fantastic. When you walk out of your room, you are looking straight towards the water. The hammocks on the terrace upstairs are great for stargazing and watching the sun rise. D's Place (she is changing the name of her hostel) has everything a backpacker could want and she asks and listens objectively to any suggestions her guests have for her. I highly recommend staying here if you are heading to southern Belize.

When in Dangriga - stay here! It is not a five star sleeping, but it is clean, safe and you will get an amazing breakfast (waffles, fruit and coffee). The owner/manager s a really nice and friendly lady.
There is a WiFi internet too.
