It doesn't look fancy but the food is great, as is the service. We had the fajitas and also breakfast burritos the next day - which were big and really tastyt! It's a handy cafe as they can help you organise getting to Tobacco Caye and they have wifi :)

When we asked where to eat, this place was recommended. We had the fish special. It was overcooked and nothing special at all. Disappointing.

Not expecting much we ordered breakfast before the boat ride to Tobacco Caye - and were we pleasantly surprised! Delicious! Inexpensive! friendly! Our waitress was so helpful, and just made our meal that much more fun. I hope this little place thrives, it certainly deserves it!
If you're taking a boat out of Dangriga, be sure to leave time for a meal at this little gem....

Tobacco Caye is a tiny island off the coast of Belize, popular with budget travelers. If you enjoy hammocks, reading, and a healthy dose of snorkeling and diving, then this is the island for you. Unlike the surrounding cayes, this is one of the few islands that won't break the bank. At only about 200 feet wide and 400 feet long, the atmosphere is intimate and social, but relaxing and friendly.
Boats make the journey from Dangriga in about 20-30 minutes and charge around $18 US. You can arrange boat from the Riverside Café (they depart from the dock directly in front of the restaurant) or by calling Eric Vasquez at 636-1395 or 667-8908. They usually leave between 9:30-10 am or between 12-1pm. Boats may also leave later in the afternoon upon request.
Eric Vasquez is the resident dive master, as a local Belizian, he has expert knowledge of all the reefs around Tobacco. He runs shore dives as well as trips to Glover’s Reef, Thatch Caye, Saltwater Caye,Turneffe Reef, Lighthouse Reef, and even the infamous Blue Hole. With his knowledge of the sea, weather, and currents as well as marine life, Eric ensures your dive or snorkel will be filled with amazing finds. Expect to see a variety of fish, as well as turtles, lobsters, eels, sharks, stingrays, manatees, and even whale sharks.
Eric will soon be offering a variety of certifications and with the incredible visibility, warm water, and great prices; this is the place to get started!

We love finding good restaurants while on vacation. both times we staying in dangriga everyone said the riverside was the best restaurant in town. unfortunately it was a disappointment both times. everything would be reasonable if they were just more friendly. We tried being as friendly as possible but for some reason the staff there makes you feel like you are bothering them by stepping in their establishment. the service is very slow, it was basically impossible to get more than one drink.
