“Good get-away”
Reviewed November 14, 2013

I found the staff, facilities and value of this hotel to be "top notch" Being close to Chetumal, Free Zone and the casino's makes it a very accessible destination. The breakfast buffet is more that I expected...the best!

We stayed here at Princess hotel free zone for two nights, everything was fine with the exception of the room keys not working and beds too low but it was still fine for us, the front desk supervisor and bell boy were very welcoming and made us feel like home, excellent customer service skills the casino had a nice shoe, bingo all up in the night, nice food and friendly staff….

Room Tip: second floor has the best rooms also free zone area good to shop. its all duty free

We came upon this place when it was approaching sunset. There were many cars and street vendors clogging the entrance area (because of the busy attached casino) and a man motioned us to park in an area quite a distance away across the street and around the corner. My wife and I felt very unsafe the entire time, but we were very tired and frankly we felt we would have been more unsafe to be travelling around in the dark in an area with poor roads and limited road signs to direct us where we were going. I remember there was a LOT of trash, broken glass, and a few people drugged out beside some of the cars as we struggled with our luggage out of the lot and across the broken pavement in the busy street. Once we entered the casino, we felt a lot safer-- it was bright and there were two guards at the entrance. We had to go through the small, smokey, loud and crowded casino to get to the hotel registration desk. The staff was friendly but had very limited English skills. A speaking knowledge of Spanish would have been very helpful The staff had no customer service skills. Our room was on the second floor, there was no elevator, our bags were very heavy, and no one offered to help us at any time. I have a bad knee and tripped going up the steep stairs. No one bothered to help. The room was absolutely gross-- smokey, patched up walls, the toilet constantly ran, there were no wash cloths, there were two old threadbare towels, a broken sink, a clogged shower drain with reversal of hot/cold.....I could go on and on. I went downstairs and asked for washcloths and the manager on duty said he would look into it, but he did not. But again, there was a problem with the language. Not wanting to leave the safety of this facility in the dark, we ate dinner there and it was absolutely delicious! We could not sleep at night because the music from the casino was extremely loud and the bed felt dirty. At around 10 PM, there was a drilling sound in the walls....my wife called downstairs and they did not understand what she was saying. When sunrise came, we checked out. Again, no one offered to help with our luggage. We hobbled across and down the street and were so very thankful to find our rental car in one piece. We were so relieved to cross the border safely back into Belize. I would not recommend this facility to even the worst of my enemies. And I agree with NancyS416 regarding the charges to cross the border; to make it even worse, there was a "porter" at the customs border who insisted on carrying our luggage through customs, and then after we got through, he insisted that we "tip" him.

If you are traveling in Belize and want to stay in this Hotel expect to pay to get there. You have to cross the Belize border which charges $15 us per person each time you cross. The rooms are nothing special. Staff is very friendly and helpful. No close beach! If your intention is to travel Belize this is not the hotel to stay in.

we stayed at this free zone casino and hotel, it was reasonable at 55 dollars and good showers with hot water, excellent breakast buffet, not big winnings at the casino, but we were not there for gambling we were just passing thru towards Belize.

Room Tip: it only cost 4 dollar \USA money to corozal town, where you can catch bus to belize city. or you can...
