the couple running this place are adorable and helpful- the wife gave us personal travel tips to cross the border... the cabin rooms were so clean (rosa the cleaning lady was friendly and so lovely) . rooms had coffee, a coffeemaker, even a fridge! we had many beers and local sorrel wine on the porch. location perfect, smack in the town, a good exercise walk away from cahal pech. great bookstore in the ' mall' across the street. local belizeans really friendly, especially if you speak spanish or are traveling with someone who does. we came during christmas, a great festive mood with local bands on the street... dont miss san ignacio! ps to get to the border you just pay about 5 bz per person. dont take the cabbie lingering by burns asking for 15usd/30bz...

Room Tip: go for the cabins :)

Not the Ritz - but very nice little cabins in the back for extremely reasonable prices. Great location! remember that it is in the middle of town and it is not quiet. But the yard outside our sweet little cabin the screened in front porch had orange trees and place to hand clothes and a picnic bench. The cabins are quite secure and the owners very attentive to who is on their property. The beds are not great - bring a blow up pad for the bed to make it work. The owners found a foam mattress for me to top it - they are quite nice people and try very hard. The place is kept very clean and bug free.

Room Tip: The cabin with the screened in porch and the one next to it are the same layout - both nice with nic...

Right on the coolest street in San Ignacio (Burns Avenue) - Owners, Wally and Doris run a well kept and one of the cleanest hotels I've ever stayed in. It's right in the heart of the city. I stayed in a cabana that was very private, clean (impeccably), and safe. Even though it's not far from the street, I really could not hear any street noise. I travel all over Central America and I have stayed in many, many hotels and hostels. I would stay here again in an instant. I think that's as good a recommendation as a place could want from its customers.

You don't have to go far for good food, either. Right next door (20 feet) is a place called Mr. Greedy's and they serve $1.00 rum and coke drinks every day from 3-6 pm. Try their chicken wings. They're great, too.

Plus, you're right in the heart of the adventure companies. Mayan ruins, zip lining, Barton Creek, Spanish Lookout. Go directly across the street from Tropicool and ask for Max at Maximum Adventures.

I stayed here for a week while I explored San Ignacio and the surrounding areas. I had a single room out back and it was very quiet. My window backed onto a small courtyard so I was not facing Burns Avenue where the noise is. My room was very small but clean. The girl who cleaned the rooms was very nice and exceptionally honest. I would leave a small tip for her every day and she would not take it unless I placed it into her hand. There is a shared bathroom but once again it was kept very clean. The common area is quite spartan but I was not travelling to spend my time in a hotel room. I slept there and that was it. For $12.50 US a night it was an exceptional bargain and I would recommend it to anyone travelling on a budget.

Room Tip: Choose a room out back.

We spent about five days here while exploring the area in and around San Ignacio. While it was very basic and not fancy, it had everything needed and was clean and reasonably quiet, other than some road construction nearby, which is a temporary situation. Rose, the manager, was very helpful and friendly. We had one of the cabanas in the back. I did not see any of the rooms in the front so I don't know anything about them. It is rightin the center of town, with good access to everything. Again, a good value if you are traveling on a budget.

There are two cabanas in the back and we tried each of them. Bungalow 2 is right next to the road so it was a little loud. Bungalow 1 is the better pick as it's further in the yard and has a large screened in deck.
Each cabana had a double bed, a single bed, TV, minifridge, and coffee maker. The rooms were cleaned each day, and were spotless. At $35US, this hotel is a good find. It was located right on the main street so restaurants and bars are steps away. I would stay here again!

Room Tip: Cabana 2 has a screened in, large porch and is a little quieter.

I stayed here for 3 nights for 25 Belizean dollars a night. Room was small but clean. They change the sheets and towel everyday. The ceiling fans are a bit noisy and weak. The location is in they middle of the town, right beside all the tours. Great budget option.
