“HOME AWAY FROM HOME”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 16, 2012

Rosa's Hotel makes you feel as you are home, the staff is very nice and the owner Ms.Rosa is a very kind lady. They offer continental breakfast, loundry services, wifi internet access, tour info. Is the right in heart of San Ignacio, in the evening you can enjoy the sunset and in the morning the sun rised..a place you must visit.

Room Tip: The rooms with AC and Tv are fantastic, is quiet and cooler.

Had some idea what the descriptions of Belize hotels might mean, but thought that the term "midrange" would just mean: more expensive than my usual budget accommodations. Was pleasantly surprised to find Rosa's family offered a genuinely sincere desire to assist jetlagged, mildly confused wanderers like myself to sort things out --even was offered a late checkout to hide from the blistering sun. The fresh fruit and coffee makes a welcome breakfast, and one can certainly combine the air-con and TV to a satisfactory "noise cancelling" effect.
You can't fake the kind of customer service and attention to detail this family provides. Your first night off the plane can set the tone for the rest of your trip. I consider my decision to rest here before seeing the ruins and staying at Barton Creek to be just the right cure for sweaty buses and overcrowded aircraft.

We stayed 2 nights in dec. very clean and basic. Staff were really nice and super helpful. Only downfall is the nightclub next door that insists on pumping out music as loud as they can.

We only stayed for one night here and it was cleanish and the staff were really friendly. The room did look a bit like a prison cell but really just needed a lick of paint. Unfortunately, the bar next to it played music really really loud till god knows when. I know this can't be helped so we didn't complain as it is not their fault at all, just something to be aware of if you are on the wrong side of this hotel!

We stayed here for one night; it's a nice hotel and a good deal. We were on the side of the building that was farthest from the nightclub and we didn't have any problems with noise. Also had AC in the room, which gave us a break from the heat. Beds were comfortable and the whole place was very clean. Continental breakfast was simple but adequate--toast with butter and jam, coffee, fresh bananas. The upper deck was an enjoyable place to hang out in the evening. If you want to be close to everything in town it's a great place to stay. Thanks!

I really wish we could rate this hotel higher than we have because the staff were so lovely, but the hotel itself is nothing special and you can find nicer places in town for the same money (you just need to walk around when you arrive rather than booking ahead). It seems that most of the cheaper accommodation in San Ignacio is not available to book online. on our trip we usually stay in guesthouses, hostels, and b&b's, often without bathrooms so we really don't need luxurious places to make us happy. On our trip so far after a month, Rosa's Hotel was probably the least value for money place we stayed in.
When we arrived at Rosa's we checked in no problem, our room was okay, nothing special. but then about 6pm in the evening the niteclub next door turned their music on so loud with the base just pumping through our room (the music doesnt stop until 4am on the weekend & 1am in the week). DO NOT STAY IN ROOMS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE HOTEL. Because we had booked in to do an expensive tour the next day, we really wanted to get a good night sleep so we asked to change rooms and the lady was really nice and gave us keys to a room on the other side of the building. it turns out our new room didn't have any fly screens, the window slats were loose and someone could easily come in the window because the walkway was just outside. So we asked the lady if she had another room & so we moved again. Then about half an hour later she came back and said she had spoken to the boss and he moved us downstairs to an airconditioned room, really nice of them. This room was fine and you could only just hear the music above the aconditioned room. no windows or anything special, but was fine for our stay in san ignacio.
if you do want to stay in this hotel, make sure you clarify which room you are booked into. some are fine, some are not at all.

Room Tip: dont stay on right side of building unless you want to hear techno all night.

Thanks for your compliments.. We do try very hard to accommodate the sensitive needs of all our guests. With regard to the noisy club next door, it certainly is just that. That being said, we are located right in the center of town, and as I have recommended previously, those who want a more natural and peaceful surrounding would be better suited to find something a ways out from the middle of our town. Further, there are other comparably priced hotels, though none of them include services like ours free of charge, such as, wifi, and a continental breakfast. Just wanted to point that difference out when you make a comparison in price alone... Thanks so much for taking the time to review your stay here.

Right in the heart of town this is a wonderful little hotel, a great find! It has lots of character, a wonderful upstairs patio with comfortable chairs, tables and cool breeze. It perfect for coming back to after exploring the caves or ruins. We met some interesting people while staying here, lots of fun. Its perfect for the casual traveler looking to expereince something different, a little culture. I hate boring resorts with pools and spas. blaaaa. This place offers clean affordable rooms, coffee, toast in AM, AC if your not used to the heat, a great owner/host who really wants his guest to enjoy and be comfortable. Thanks Tony
