“Big room, quaint hotel with perfect location!”
Reviewed July 13, 2009

Way to go, Betty! This little hotel has the ideal location in downtown San Ignacio. The hostess/owner made us feel right at home from the beginning. The room was great and equipped with hot water, TV and Internet (for $5). When we got there late in the afternoon and were looking for something to do, we scooted up the hill to Cahal Pech. 20-25 minute hike outside of town. 15 minute walk to Hode's and right across the street from Cox hannah, two of the best restaurants in Belize. 6 thumbs way up.

This facility provided a comfortable place for relaxation, sleep and to shower. It was clean as it was safe. The staff was very helpful and the cost of staying there was $30.00 per night. They provide you with a television, hot and cold running water (extra for air condition) and room service. You also have access to a kitchen and refrigerator. It's location gives easy access to shopping - there are several stores, restaurants, tour offices, supermarkets and even the food market are all within walking distant.

Please take a wash rag if you can't shower without one.

The location of Casa Blanca can not be beat. The patio overlooking the busy street gave us a great place to meet with other guests while enjoying a Belikin from the corner store. At about 7PM a local music teacher plays a recorder with Gusto across from the hotel. It makes for a slow end to a busy day. The rooms themselves were very clean and of a good size. We did not get the A/C upgrade which made the rooms a little hot but tolerable.

Casa Blanca is a good base to tour downtown San Ignacio. There are good places to eat right across the street, and plenty of bars and shopping within short walking distance. The market is just a few blocks away.

Our rooms were clean and spacious. The air conditioner worked well, and when used with the ceiling fan, we stayed plenty cool at night. Not that we felt unsafe in San Ignacio, but the rooms had bars on the windows, and there was a locked gate to get into the hotel, so we certainly felt safe at all times. Other than the occasional traffic noise or thumping music, it was mostly quiet at night (and we were as close to the front of the hotel as you could get!).

Water pressure wasn't the greatest in the shower and the temperature liked to vary, but I don't know what else you would expect there. Also, no wash cloths were provided.

There were plenty of other places to stay and some may have been better, but the Casa Blanca met our needs. You don't really go to a place like San Ignacio for the hotel, you go for the scenery, culture, and day trips. It was reasonably priced, clean, convenient, and air conditioned. The staff was always pleasant and friendly.

Betty and the rest of the staff were spot on with recommendations for taxis and other services. The hotel is centrally located in town, just a few steps from groceries, restaurants, the central market, etc. The guest kitchen and dining room are perfect for preparing a meal with items purchased at the market and BBQ chicken purchased at the bakery across the suspension bridge. Our room was basic but adequate and the cable TV welcome after being isolated on the cayes.

This was a great little hotel in the heart of San Ignacio. There aren't very many good options in this town, but this place was perfect. The rooms are very clean, and the rate is unbeatable ($30 US for a room with a bathroom and air conditioning).

All in all this was a great place to spend a night in San Ignacio.

There aren't that many hotels in San Ignacio, but this is one of the better ones in my book. It's situated right on the main street (King Street) across from the Scotia Bank. The lobby of the hotel is a bit disconcerting as it's actually a shop, but the owners are courteous and very helpful. All the rooms are on the second floor. They are spotlessly clean and come equiped with ceiling fans and a/c (extra charge); the bathrooms are OK and the shower has lots of hot water and good water pressure. At around 25$, this is a good bet!
