On the search for a nice place for dinner, we made it to El Fuego. The choice was good - the cuisine is really creative and you surely wil be happy. Don't expect the otherweise in Belize served big portions though. If you're really hungry this is probably not the best option, as the prices are not cheap and the menu does not include local Tax/VAT. But for the atmosphere and the taste of the food I say: Recommendable. Especially considering the location/seating/view of other restaurants in town. The view of the outdoor seating goes to the small central park.

We hear that this is a new restaurant so I want to be gracious with my review. The one complaint I have is the service. The waitress didn't know a lot about the menu and was VERY soft spoken which was tough sometimes because the music is very loud. We sat outside on a lovely porch with plenty of other tables and shared several appetizers with friends. The coconut oil hummus app is fantastic and the lamb meatballs are out of this world (and I don't even like lamb)! The drinks were okay. The owner was sitting next to us doing business and made it a point to walk over, say hello and share with us the background of his restaurant which we thought was a very nice gesture; he was a very friendly guy. I wish him and his staff the best of success. I realize it takes a while to get a groove and to find the right servers. (Side note - this restaurant feels like it doesn't belong in San Ignacio and I feel like it's catering more to middle-upper class visitors. Which is fine, but just seemed a bit off.)

They feature local flavors in an upscale setting situated on the public square. With either indoor or outdoor seating, you can enjoy a quiet meal, or experience the local community activity.

Fuego is a well-designed, well-run restaurant in downtown San Ignacio with a delicious, eclectic menu. The food is prepared by an inspired, talented chef who puts a unique twist to his creations, fusing cuisines seamlessly, and the wait staff is super friendly and accommodating. Love the unique, industrial- look decor. A big plus: It's a great people watching spot.
