“Good Atmosphere. Food Disappointing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2013

It was a chance to change from the usual chicken and rice. I heard great review from the pork chops and was excited to try it. I order the Chops and my date order the Ribs. Well it was very disappointing.... My Chops was absolutely bad. It tasted like Charcoal. Maybe the cook was having a bad day. Will definitely be a good place to have drinks.. if the beers was not all draft. :(

“A Welcome Addition to San Ignacio”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2013

My husband and I, expat hoteliers, finally had an opportunity to dine at Fuego and were delighted by the experience. The high-standard atmosphere and décor of the restaurant is a welcome change to our local norm. The service is impeccable. We wandered in at lunch time and were trying to determine if it was cooler inside or out when the server asked if we'd like the air conditioning put on for us. That was amazing and totally exceeded reasonable expectation. The ceiling fans inside and outside were sufficient.

Both the food and drink menus are unusual and interesting. The chef and mixologist have added various twists to local ingredients and created somewhat controversial offerings, designed to please the taste of an adventuresome diner. This is not a typical menu for anywhere, not just Belize.

Located in the heart of San Ignacio behind the new Tourist Center, Fuego offers excellent quality food at prices reflective of upscale rather than casual dining. It's great to have this option available among the other good restaurants in San Ignacio.

“THE BEST IN TOWN - AWESOME!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2013

Brand new, just open a few months. Looks like it should be in Venice Beach, California. Amazing menu, incredible food. The owner sat nearby and offered good conversation. We loved this place. There is nothing like it in San Ignacio, and I doubt there is anything like it in Belize. We traveling the entire country and nothing was close to a modern hip environment with local nouvelle cuisine. Park in the rear - there is a gated and guarded lot that cost us only $1.50 for 2 hours. It was well worth the piece of mind...the streets were full of 'hustler's' offering to 'watch' our car for a couple bucks. We didn't feel safe hiring them to watch the car and other hustler's were begging us not to trust each other.... but the back lot was wonderful and quiet.

Try the coconut hummus or the lamb plate! WOW!!!

You honestly get the warm feeling as you were at home; you're greeted with a pleasant smile. From the appetizer to your main course your pallet will be in awww. Remember to save space for the "guava cheesecake", it's a dessert(ful) experience...thank you "el fuego", Ian and staff for a delightful experience.

“A big city restaurant in a small town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2013 via mobile

Found this place after getting off the bus in San Ignacio at the Welcome Center. We were carrying 4 pieces of large luggage and the owners, who were sitting on the patio, offered to watch our bags as we ate. We were greeted by the two bartenders who were very pleasant and friendly. Not to mention that they had a deft hand at making some very tasty drinks! I had the El Diablo maragarita and the lady had a coconut concoction that was really tasty. The food was just as good. The chef is a young chef who takes local fare and then takes it up a few levels. The pork chop signature cut is 2 1/2" thick and is only $15 USD. We had 2 drinks and two appetizers and left paying just a little over $20 USD. Will definetly be back on our way through town!!!!
